Catalyst 9.8 :)

Thanks for the link, kudos to you. I was just thinking I hadn't got new drivers for a while, come to OCUK and its the first post I see. Awesomesauce.

resident evil 5 still runs terrible on area 3.
it runs that bad the frames on my Xfire setup are up and down like a yoyo.

These drivers seem good! However, I play Arma 2 at MAX settings and get 60FPS constant for 5 minutes, then it drops back to 30-35 constant :/

Any wondeful hypothesis on such events?

DX9, 1280x1024, 0xAA, Everything else Max.

Resi5 Variable Benchmark 9.7Cats.....95.2.1Fps

Resi5 Variable Benchmark 9.8Cats.....95.8.1Fps

Waaaaheyyyy!!!!!!!!!!....0.6 Fps increase....

Resi5 Fixed Benchmark 9.7Cats.....72.1Fps

Resi5 Fixed Benchmark 9.8Cats.....72.4Fps

Woooopeeee!!!!!!!!!!....0.3 Fps increase....

And they were after a full, clean install of Win7.....

I reckon most people only get an increase due to a 'clean set' of drivers, rather than any real improvements to the drivers themselves.

You probably would have the same effect, by uninstalling your 'old 9.7's' and reinstalling 'new 9.7's'.

Also have you noticed how turning on AA in the Capcom engine in Resi5 and SFIV just destroys your framerate...?

Just turning it on to x2 results in upto a 40% drop in framerate...

Or maybe because they are using vista & not W7.

No difference mate, i run a dual boot Vistax64/Win7x64...

The results are comparable....well within margin of error

Well its does say improvements of up to a % so there must be other factors as to why others are getting more which is the way of the PC.

yeah....its just im always suspicious of the ability of drivers to suddenly, miraculously improve your framerates across a wide range of games, say 10%+ accross the board, unless its a specific bug fix peculiar to that range of cards.

I think once you've fine tuned your rig, the only way to really see a meaningful improvement is to buy a faster card....

I run SFIV at 1920x1080 with 4x AA and there is no performance decrease these and 9.7 so im thinking its a problem at your end ;)

Only other games ive tried since installing the 9.8 is L4D. Not checked the actually fps but the game does feel smoother, particulary when there is lots of fire on screen.

These are keepers for me :)
