Whats the cheapest way to get from The Hellidon Lakes Hotel, based in Northampton to Gatwick airport?

I will be going on 11th September in the morning after a works do (hopefully flying to cyprus to meet family)

Lucero why dont you read his post?

How is driving and parking in a longstay carpark or getting a TAXI going to be the cheapest way?!

I didn't say taxi, I said Airpot Taxis, which are exactly that. A fixed price to ride to a london airport. To be fair though, I wouldn't expect you to have them where you live as that's madness.

Less than 2 hours away from London, they are very common place and cost as little as £70. Probably the same price as his trainfair but without the hassle of lugging his stuff from north london train station to south london on the tube,

So, yeah, I did read it. Thanks though, you made my day :)

As little as 70 quid?! It's only 100 miles! An Airport Taxi for ONE person is never, ever, ever going to be the cheapest way.

The train is £32 and takes 2 hours 10 minutes. This is probably the best way to do it.

No, its not. Bearing in mind he will need an open return and he is travelling in the morning, it will cost him £72.80 and 2 changes. Across London. No thanks

No, it is £32.80 and there is a train leaving Northampton at 09:05.

If he wishes to leave in the morning peak, at say 07:05, he can do it for £36.40. Why does he need an Open Return? He has said nothing about returning - he is going to meet his family, why would he then want to return to a hotel he had a works do at before he left? He's not going to want to go back to the same place, is he.

These are both walkon fares as well, there is no need to book in advance. He specifically asked for the cheapest way not the least hassle and frankly getting across central London with the sort of baggage you can check into a budget airline is hardly taxing.

You are wrong, get over it.

The standard rates for walk on fares are here, and this includes an anytime return if he so wishes.

2 seperate fares either way are going to cost almost exactly the same, and clearly you've never tried to get across London at what could be rush hour. It can take upwards of two hours.

So, er, get over it :p

He didn't ask for a return! He is at a hotel for a works do. He wants to get from here to the Airport to join his family in Cyprus.

Why is he then going to want to return to the hotel at a later date? Are they going to be holding another works do for him on his return date?

He's probably going to be leaving Northampton at about 9-10ish anyway so won't be traversing London at rush hour at all.

Even if he was returning thats 2 £70 airport taxi's at £140 so it's STILL twice the money.

You are wrong, please try again to get over it.

£21.50 for a single with my railcard (no i am not returnign to a works do a week later)

Only problem is that to get to Northampton trainstation from The Hellidon Lakes Hotel is 30 minutes away (or so my mum has informed me)

This is true, so in fairness, more information is needed before anyone can give the ultimate internet prize for cheapness.

If he is at a works doo in Northampton, it is fair to say he works there and may live there (or north london area at best). It also says he is meeting his family. That doesn't necessarily suggest they are on holiday, but may live there.

Who knows! :)

Taxi then train then by the looks of it.

twaddle. Im with Fox on this one. Many companies go to works dos either down south, north or even in other countries. I'm based in Leeds with a few offices around London

To make it clear - I want a Single ticket to Gatwick from the Hellidon Lakes hotel in Northhampton on 11th September sometime in the morning (to get to gatwick around 11am) I need to get from the hotel though, as the hotel isnt in Northhampton train station!

Just walk. It won't cost you anything at all and it means both Fox and Lucero are both wrong and can both 'get over it' :p
