One from when I was round my uncles today. He was showing me his new lens, a Cannon MP-E65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro. It really is a stunner but a bit of a beast to use as the Depth of Field is rather small (2.240-.048mm!) Fired of a few shots with his 5Dmk2 and a ring flash and I'm rather pleased with the result. I'm still rather new to this photography lark but I feel I've rather been bitten by the macro bug, pun most definitely intended :D

CURSE YOU!!! :)
i'd love to own that lens, why oh why did i pick Nikon, oh thats right canon suck :)

great picture.

I'd love to own it as well! :) Unfortunately I'm on a slightly more limited budget than my uncle. What lens are you using for macro at the moment? I'm hoping to get one shortly and I've seen some good reviews of the sigma 105mm which for about 250 quid seems a bargain.

im using a Tokina 100mm, and sometime use the nikon 50mm with tubes if i fancy a change.

Well you could just buy the Nikon AF-S 65mm 1-5x... oh wait

i wish nikon would get their arse in gear and produce a lens to compeat with the MPe,
closest thing they have i think is the 85mm 2.8 PC, which is still only 1:2 and costs £1300, nearly double the MPe :(

hey wedge, lens is the tokina 100mm 2.8 on its own, working distance from front of the lens was probably 25-30cm on the darter, and 15-20cm on the damsel fly.
i've never really had a massive issue with working distance, even when stacking a set of extension tubes and a x2 converter when the working distance is around 2-3cm, getting low and moving very very slowly has worked for me so far. my hands and knees are always muddy :)

Cheers for info Mate, i have my extension tubes now, so am going to give Macro a go with them, i did manage to snap a spider this morning before i left for work, it looked good on the camera screen lol, will upload it tonight.

Working distance was around 5-10cm with only No3 extension tube attached and 50mm 1.8, I think this could be good fun.

If anyone can give me advice on using these tubes I would appreciate it. I have sussed using them with my 50mm, but can i use them with my 18-105mm kit lens from my D90? (if so how?)

Ta :D

Mt first attempt at a macro photo, with the No3 extension tube plus 50mm 1.8 :D

For £8.00 (for the extension tubes) that rocks, me thinks.
