DIRT 2 Demo Out Tommorow

Good game, didn't get on with the handling on the first race, but after that it was fine. Definite improvement all round over #1, and should fill the time nicely till Shift / FM3.

I don't like it at all to be honest, its just took much of an arcade game. The cars feel as though they have no weight at all, and if you even think of pressing the brakes then you'll just spin. The menu system was nice to start with but soon becomes annoying when u have to wait 30 seconds to do anything.

Although not exacley the same game, i wouldn't even compare this to motorstorm which is a much better arcade racer in every way.

Completely different type of game.

I disagree, I think the cars feel nice and weighty, especially compared to DIRT 1. Now there was a game with weightless cars, it was terrible...

EDIT: I can brake perfectly fine and not spin, maybe you just suck :p

I agree with Judge, there is no weight to the cars at all which feels strange, the menu system although 'pretty' is ultimately annoying and time consuming, the American commentator combined with the style of music the game has makes it feel like more a Burnout game without boost than a rally game, and like others have said, it's way over Americanised, I actually think I preferred Sega Rally to this tbh.

Did you play the original DIRT? Those cars had no weight.

DIRT 2 feels fine, when you throw the car into a bend and get it sideways you can feel the car's momentum and weight, this is a stark contrast to the original. The rally cars didn't really slide atall and stopped on a penny.

I don't what it is dude, they just feel weightless, I cannot really comment on the first game much as I only played the demo once years ago, I do remember the cars turning on a dime though like you said which was annoying, that at least does seem to be improved, but they still feel weightless to me, I feel like the car can be thrown about too easily rather than gently guiding a heavy object, and also it feels like your going to fast in relation to the environment.

First impressions...

-I HATE the menu interface!
-Those comments in race from the other drivers will soon get VERY repetative and old
-Handling is much better, sliding feels more like it should be. It was very forced in DiRT. Still doesnt seem perfect, airy is as close as i can get to describing it.
-Cant comment on car models and how they look racing, as i drive next to road, but it looks good and fast :)
-Replays are nice, much better.

I actually feel it shouldnt be called DiRT2... i think it has left everything that the old DiRT was behind :( Seems like a totally different franchise!

Well i only played one race and hated the handling the cars seemed too loose and slight handle and twitch it went mad.

Maybe i need to give it another go thou

Any G25 or GT users?

So far with the GTRS wheel it feels great on this game.
Precise too, good sensation of what the car is doing and easy to nail the apexes.
Also off the main track the rumble is well implemented.

Havnt tried controller yet but will comare my G25 to this wheel with more practice.

Oh and ive played on the hardest settings with a best place of 2nd so far.
Has anyone got a 1st place with the hardest settings yet?

Yes, do.

Did you do the race? I much prefered the time trial style event.

Looks better than Dirt 1 (have that on PC/PS3), Love the Water effect on windscreen in cockpit mode - except I always crash "after it"!. No Navagator in Morroco track (not easy this one - hard to see bends at all). Overall impression is: Better looking that Dirt 1 BUT - and with all the Hype - WHY is it only 720P - and not 1080P?, the very first game launced with the PS3 was 1080 - so feell dissapointed on that one.

EDIT:, I also find that the brakes on the Sixasis controler (R2) don't have a great effect on braking, it "slows" down, but doesn't feel like it's "breaking"

You just need to brake sooner, you are probably used to the stupidly over powerful and massively unrealistic brakes of the first game.
