mondeo 1.8 misfire

any ideas out there on duratec misfires.already changed plugs,leads and coil pack.oil is 5w30 ford spec.mis fires upto 2400 revs then seems to clear.does not happen all the time,just most of the time.any ideas wecome before the big hammer comes out.

is it mk3? im having that exact problem atm, havnt changed the coil pack yet - i'll watch this thread carefully :D

Disconnect the MAF, if it runs better with it off then it'll need cleaning or replacing. This may or may not trigger then engine management light which may or may not clear after a long drive.

If its anything like mine it'll take 30~40 miles to come on and a similar distance to turn off again
 
had rac out with his diagnostic machine,checked everything but showed no faults.maf tested ok and lamda reading was fine.any more ideas?
 
Try swapping the MAF for a known good unit (anybody local that you can rob one from?) i've just dealt with a pug hdi which had a duff MAF but it wasn't giving any errors (great method, rely on the broken electronics to tell you it's broken, but what if it's broken!?)
