** Xbox 360 Elite $100 Price Drop (Now $299) **

I don't see why there has to be fanboyism. Both consoles have their pros and cons. I think the PS3 is classier in appearance. The XMB looks nicer in my opinion, the console itsself looks more high end, it's much quieter than the 360 and the Blu-Ray capability is an obvious pro. Whereas the 360 is better for online play, it has a much larger network of games, demos, backward compatibility and it's also a great media extender.

I don't see why people can't just appreciate both consoles instead of having all the "oh my console is better" bull****.

What, he refers to Microsoft as M$, he bangs on about value, when infact you could get an arcade for £99 at one stage this year, that was amazing value.

Your a fanboy so your comments are invalid, how is it terrible value? Its offers a great "gaming" experience and has done since day 1.

But none of this will make any sense to you.
Did this really happen? Cheets calls out someone else for being a fanboy? **** off thats funny :D

ps3ud0

Doesn't make much sense to release a slim model soon since the CPU and GPU have already been shrunk down in the latest 360's (i imagine if they were going to do a slim this shrinking would have coincided with a new slim model). Then again the phasing out of the pro SKU and the increased price of the arcade SKU make absolutely no sense whatsoever so who knows anymore :p

Where is the quote from btw ?

This is a rumour and conjecture based on the 2010 natal release, assuming that as MS labelled it like a new console launch is that with a redesign and a new controller it will be seen as a new launch by the GP.

Surely it's still cheaper to buy an arcade and a 120gb HDD than buy an elite? The elite has never really been good value for money when you consider you could buy an Arcade for £99 and a 120GB HDD for £60-69.99 or less.

Indeed referring to Microsoft as M$ is childish but your reply was also very childish.

He said the Elite was bad value, not the arcade. Seeing as how the 360 and PS3 120gb models are about the same price now, the PS3 just gets the nod for being better value for your money.

You can buy an Elite off the High Street for under £230 brand new so I don't see why its such a massive deal?

Because people are hypothesising, based on Walmart knocking $100 off the Elite in USA, that it may drop to £199 RRP which could mean it being as low as £190 in shops. At £229 compared to the PS3s £249 it does not seem as good value (to some people).

I know I said I would never buy a 360 again because I've already owned three and didn't want to put up with anymore failures, but I'm kinda tempted now. Just how reliable are these elites now? Is the dashboard still a bit sluggish? Do games still lockup when you are trying to access the mini dashboard in game?

I had problems with my original xbox and got a couple of replacements for it.I eventually got the newer model with the reworked insides and the HDMI port and I have never had any problems with it since then.

I also prefer to play online games on my xbox.Simply because I have more friends on there.
PSN is fine and considering it's free it aint that much behind live.If my live friends could play killzone 2 i'd choose that over gears 2(which we play now mostly) simply because killzone 2 isn't laggy.Gears 2 is atrocious half of the time.

Rumour has it that the XBox 360 Arcade is going up in price to £159.99, also the XBox 360 60gb is being discontinued.

It looks like there will be just 2 options for new 360 owners, either buy an Arcade for £159.99 but without a harddrive or an Elite for £239.99.

With the PS3 now £249 the major selling factor for the XBox 360, its price is being eroded.

I can imagine the 360 Elite coming down in price from £239.99 but how much can the lower it to if £159.99 for an Arcade is true ?

I'll possibly be getting an Elite sometime next month as a birthday present to myself ;)

Would only be paying about £180 for it with a discount so not bad if it does come down even further!

MS announced they are increasing the price of the arcade. Why?Who knows!

The god awful state of our currency combined with the fact that they're dropping the 60gb premium/pro model from the lineup so the Arcade now gets priced up to fill that gap. The more i look at this the more i reckon the elite won't see a significant price drop, if any at all. The Arcade won't sell at all if it's only £20 less than the Elite so why raise that and drop the Elite.

None of this seems logical to me.

Its all a bit confusing at the moment, it looks as though there will be 2 XBox 360 consoles and one of them will be £159.99 but some people think the Arcade will stay in place and the Elite will come down in price to the £159.99.

Others think the Elite will stay in place and the Arcade will go up in price to £159.99 ...confusing :)
