Hi there - this thread is on behalf of my parents,

Was told the other day by my parents they'd be trading in their Focus ST170 to buy a Nissan Micra to my shock and amusement for economy reasons.

After a while they finally admitted they'd decided on picking up a used 350Z in the next month or so.

Budget is 13k if it's something special.. 2 seater coupes, not fans of the Z4 or S2000 either.

Any suggestions or bits of advice are more than welcome!

Thanks.

For some reason I cannot see your parents in a 350z..... :D

Out of sheer curiosity why do they not like the Z4 or S2000? Looks, engine, 'practicality'? The S2000 has more 'usable' boot space than the 350z's more restrictive boot space opening for example.

Hmm yeh so they do... Ah well, I'd still have it over a 350z, might be worth considering - cant see 2 extra seats being a negative

Other than the 350z designed to be a sports car?

They've had a sensible fast, 5 seater car. He said his parents want a 2 seater coupe. And you posted a 330ci. :-/

I cannot help, but i wish to say that your parents are most cool. If either of my parents declared their wish to own anything vaguely sporty i'd have to double check their identity, let along something like a 350z.

Its not that far out the box is it? Is a 330ci not considered a sports coupe? Sounds like they've already dismissed the obvious alternatives

Not really what they're after, me and my brother are doing our own things now and they want something to have fun with.

They'd look fine :p they're not that old, early/mid 40's. I think the Z4 is due to how common they are / look. The 350Z pictured looks kind of special in a way, bit more of a head turner. The S2000, again, is probably due to looks. It's just for them, me and my brother are out of the picture when it comes to cars now :( :p

The current SLK350 is an excellent car, although a little more GT focused than out and out sports car. I'd put it up with the Boxster. The 200k and the previous version (like above) are not good.

As above, quite cool parents, I might crack a thread open on the very subject to see if theres anymore out there!

They both like their cars, would have probably been an R32 a couple of years back but different situation now. I approve of this however, I wont complain about helping with the shopping (not that I do now anyway :p)..

It's hardly that different - the 350Z is a GT not a Sports Car, it's rivals are things like the Audi TT. Personally I think its hard to beat the 350Z for this budget, though. It quite enjoyed the one I drove.
