Hedgehog joke wins comedy prize

Seen Dan Antopolski a couple of times in the past year and his material written down like that in list doesn't do it justice. For anyone that saw his show in Edinburgh, did he get the chart out?

None of them made me laugh to be totally honest.

But then I did laugh at "What do you get if you cross football with deserts? ---> Aston Vanilla"

I'll get my coat, hat, briefcase and leave

Richard Herring's "Hitler Moustache" show was VERY good. Got a bit political but I'm with him all the way!

I enjoyed it, but do think it bordered on political preaching a couple of times plus a lot of the material had already been covered in the podcasts. Sounds like I hated it now; it was really good, but i preferred Headmaster's Son.

Not bad not bad :)
Right about delivery being key. My material written down reads poorly.

It's the comic that makes the difference between being hilarious or sounding like a smart arse :p

Having not listened to the podcasts, it was fine for me - comedians recycle all the time, can't blame them tbh!

It did get a bit preachy but I like seeing someone with a passion for something. Particularly when I agree :D

Speaking as someone who's experienced comedy for about thirty years [eep!], there comes a time where one realises that those that seem a bit preachy are the comedians that are most likely to make a difference.

From Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Sam Kinison, Bill Hicks, to Malcolm Hardie, Alexei Sayle, Stuart Lee, Richard Herring, and numerous others in-between. These are the people who, even if they don't directly influence their audience, influence a generation of comedians who go on to spread words that become comedy gospel.

And gawd bless 'em, I say :)

Sara - did you get the chance to see Rhod Gilbert's show "Rhod Gilbert And The Cat That Looked Like Nicholas Lyndhurst"? I'd love to know how that's gone down, compared to his utterly brilliant "... Award-Winning Mince Pie" routine :)
