Are you proud of Britain??

England/Britain? Which one is it? Posh accents are only synonomous with England, not Britain. If England has an Identity crisis then what should be said for being British?

oh god, someone slagging footballers off again, some people neglect to realise just how much work they actually do, boohoo they have a fun, glam job, admit you're jealous, I wish I had that life, they would be idiots not to embrace their talents, they work hard and theyr rewarded for it, fair enough they get ridiculous wages, but thats not their fault.

On one hand I don't think that they really help themselves by being, lets face it, very retarded. But agree, I do agree that it is jealousy. Everybody who is at the top of their field probably get the same amount.

Can't say I'm proud of anything about this country compared to other developed countries, bad legal system, bad healthcare system, practically non existant public transport system, awful benefits/tax system where people are thrown out of their homes because they can't afford council tax after been unable to work due to serious injury while lazy others rape the benefit system, human rights dissapearing/police state developing.

Like the prime minister for example? I think he earns around 200 grand a year. How much does David Beckham pull in per annum? For running around in a pair of little shorts being watched by other men?

Proud of it for sure, but we really are slipping in terms of our general society in comparison to some of our european neighbours.

Many things about the britiash culture is great, but more and more of it is simply being lost to our PC and booze culture. It needs to change.

We import most of our food, our natural resources are all but gone (north sea oil etc), we have a reasonably high immigration level accompanied by over population and our road and rail networks are terrible (dont believe me, go and drive or ride on the continent in almost any city etc and see for yourself).

However, we do have the NHS and we do have free (well subsidised) museums.

I really hope the UK can get itself back on track and back to the country people travel the world to come and see.

For someone at his age hes in an amazing physical condition, the amount of physical graft he does to keep in that shape is definately more than half an hour a day.
Ontop of that hes constantaly practicing his football, its not all playing games, hes got to practice set pieces, tactics, mundane intensive training for certain things. Footballers do actually have busy days.

I would imagine beckham has quite a strict diet etc too, and hes constantly in the spotlight so has to watch what he does.

Oh heavens, they have to keep in shape? I walk 15 miles some days.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that keeping fit should be rewarded ten times as well as governing the lives of 60 million people?

sorry what???!!! So you think a strict diet is on par with managing the fifth largest economy in the world and all the diplomatic responsibilites that go with that?

No, in fact I'm quite ashamed and embarrassed of modern Britain.

I am proud of the 17 year old lad who just got back from sailing around the globe though. It's like a little glimmer of past glories.

I'm proud of old Britain... the explorers, inventors, military, mariners, architects and everything else. I still don't like Britain though and even if I had been around 300 years ago I probably would have left for American or Australia. Through out history Britain has crapped on the Indians, the Africans, the Americans, the Scots, the Irish and even crapped on it's own people. In my opinion the British have always been a slimy bunch barely better than the nazis. Condescending, smarmy, pedantic, kinder gentler polite nazis with a thoroughly flawed cultural superiority complex.

Not very proud to be honest. Years ago when I was growing up, we had a certain class that is all but lost today, replaced by political correctness left right and centre, nanny states, greed, laziness, welfare and benefit cultures, inefficiency and self-centred uncaring attitudes among a lot of people, which I've noticed increasingly over the past 6-7 years or so.

On top of that we are now just America's lapdog, getting involved in their wars and their politics that have absolutely nothing to do with us.

I would have to say..

Very proud of our history, our heritage and what we have achieved in the course of our nations span.

But...of the current Britain. No. Not particularly.
