Are you proud of Britain??

I am proud of Scotland and it's contribution to the world regardless of it's small size. We punch above our weight.

Couldn't have put it better myself, without trying to instigate any English/Scottish/Welsh/Whatever hatred/argument, I consider myself Scottish 1st and British 2nd. I'm sure others will have their own preferences which they're all perfectly entitled to :)

The government is an actual laughing stock, other than that, yes.

As above quoted for the truth it is - I'm sure there's many other countries around the world laughing at the way our government rapes the average joe financially with tax's at every single opportunity given, then steals from our hard earned to fund their own 2nd mortgage

day i win lotto ill be out of here

Again as above, I'm sure there's many other countries around the world with their own problems and If I won BIG on the lotto I'd consider carefully where I'd move to.

It certainly WONT be in Britain though!

America is so great, wait....what, thats funny.

An expat, I hope the door hit you on the way out.

Plus if you won the lotto why would you leave the country, your money is safe, you are not going to get taxed, you would be enjoying the best that this country has to offer or you want some sun sea and sand, fine go, but don't come running home when you run out of money or are being terrorised by the locals.

Its an odd one.

Seeing as I had no control over where I was born, or the actions of other people born on the same piece of land as me I find it slightly odd that anyone could be proud of their country. I can understand being proud of a person, but being proud of a country has and will always baffle me.

I am pleased that I was born here though, and I know I was lucky. There are millions of people who die because of where they were born, who never get a chance, who dont have the basics we take for granted. For that I really am thankful.

I am proud of what my country has done in the past and the things we take for granted.

But, there's no denying there's room for improvement.

i see myself as English first one of the great nations on earth with a history of winning wars and governing much larger countries for decades and even today have a massive influence on the world and an armed force to back that up.

We have a lot to be proud of but i mean the govt is not one of them, why was there no marathon runners in female marathon in Berlin recently, blabla list of problems they need to be shot and get in soemone who doesn't give money out to poor people on whim and makes them work and stops equality in schools making everyone do ridicilous rubbish and rather let people do what they excel at as well as english and maths.

I class myself as irish, that is my national/racial identity, im a british citizen via my passport, but there is no such country as britain, were a group of countrys, and yes im pretty proud of what we have achieved as a group of countrys, of course it hasnt always been smooth, but i think were all pretty ok, look how long our various nationalities have been connected to each other, then look at the balkans, josep tito died and the whole region went ballistic. All in all i think were all pretty good:)

Oh **** off, it's you who sounds bitter. I love being british but moving to the states was the best thing i ever did, everywhere you go you'll find the idiots/poor/slums/posh gits ect but everywhere ive been here is polite, helpful and generally not the american tossers that brits and british media makes them out to be...funny huh.

Right now am i proud of britain? yes indeed i am.

Would i be proud of Britain 200 years down the line?i doubt it.

You're proud of something which often leads to people attacking, badly harming, and occasionally killing innocent people? Not only that, but alcohol can lead to death.

no, im not proud of binge drinking.. its just the fact that everyone, no matter how old or young always has a drink when they are having a party or on holiday or anything..

Anyways, i think its quite sad that people arent proud of our country. yes we have chavs, so what? every country has a group of scum which they done like (america = gangsters.. france = "french chavs").. trust me, ive been started on in spain and france by random groups of thugs..

Patriosm to the armed forces.. yes its true that the government dont give a **** about them, they dont fund them enough etc, but the citizens of this country stand by them.

I think people are ashamed of the country because of the government because lets be honest, they havnt done a good job for it.

meh, im pretty drunk so might be a bit rambly.. shame on you british folk who arent proud.. every country has bad points but its just the bad things stick in your mind more than the good things which is true with everything really..

Being proud of the country you just happened to be born into and upon which you have almost certainly had no influence is the height of irrationality, so no

It's like being proud of your shoe size or something
