mondeo 1.8 misfire

close enough, still refer to them as zetecs.

If you did your research you'd find that the 1.8 in the Mondeo is SIGNIFICANTLY different to the Zetec-E, Zetec-R and Zetec-SE engines. It's chain driven for a start off and has never been branded a Zetec.

yet has the exact same issues

ht leads
ignition coils
burnt exhaust valves on no 3.

back to the issue in hand, disconnected map sensor popped and farted in the exhaust,so is now back on.i then noticed a tube that was off.it goes from the intake manifold tuning valve to the intake manifold runner control actuator, when pushed back on there is is a rattley tapping noise.

but mondeo 1.8 duratec as no maf.cannot be fuel as lpg side is the same and as just been serviced by lpg installer

You don't need to have them as I tried them without and then replaced, but I found 1st and 2nd acceleration better with them in and the idle better. The valves were only £5 odd each rather than the £200+ quid for a new manifold.

I notice the complaint was misfires up to 2400rpm, apparently the flaps fully open up around 2800rpm.

went to order some flaps from ford,my engine was built jan 2001 but the replacement flaps only fit from 2002 (so they said) as anyone fitted these replacements in a y reg? if not it looks like a replecement manifold!

Thats what they always say. My engine was built in 2000 (registered in 2002 '02 plate') 2.0L duratec. They work fine.

My post is halfway down here.

Edit: Pretty sure the replacement manifold as per the post was from 2001, Anyway the valves that I took out were the same size as my 2000 manifold. If by some chance they don't fit you could always just remove the flaps.

got new manifold, oil seperator does not fit so need new one as well.am now thinking vectra would have been better buy

Why? Because Vectras never go wrong do they. Just man up and get it diagnosed and fixed, all cars have problems in their life.

if you read my postings car has been on diagnostics but shows no faults to fix,so is a case of trying one thing at a time and hope you find it sooner than later ie plugs, leads, coil, intake manifold and oil seperator so far

What he meant by getting it diagnosed was to get someone with half a clue what might be wrong with it instead of throwing random parts at it.

i thought using this site someone would have half a clue as this seems a common fault with the mondeo

Don't you think it's hard diagnosing a problem you can't even see? If it's such a common problem then the fix will be well advertised and you can stop throwing random parts at the car.

not quite fixed, but better than it was.just seems a little choked at low revs now.tried these other sites, people with the same problem but no solutions that have worked
