Best choice 1156 processor

if i go Intel way thn i wil go for i7 920 as it wil b cheaper :D , and whn next year i9 comes out, i wil switch to i9 ,wont hav hassle of upgrading ram, mobo and cpu,

The 750s is a low-power version of the 750, aimed at people who would be happy with a little less processing power in return for lower energy consumption. I don't suppose many of the people on this forum will go for that one. ;)

The 860 and 860s share a similar relationship.

Might as well just clock down a 750/860 yourself and pocket the difference then.

1156 mobos are already on sale here in taipei. Cpus are available too but shops are being discrete about it. Oh the temptations....

Performance wise on a desktop basis the 920 will out perform the i5 750. The good thing is the lower TDP. For gaming however there will be minimal difference. So great for gamers. The options to go for will be 860/870 but the will be in the 950/960 price range. The I7 920 will also drop in price to similar of the i5 750 once they sell a few thousand. So for me the i7 920 still the CPU that has it all. JMHO.

So when the 1156 comes out will that be the end of the line for the older 1366 i7 socket (i9 will that be 1366 socket)? The reason I ask is I'm about to upgrade new motherboard, CPU and memory I don't want to upgrade to something that will be dead or have no upgrade path  I haven't been watching the hardware scene for a while and I'm not sure now what to do now as I have an opportunity to upgrade from the system in my signature
