Pre-recorded VHS tapes

I considered that for the Star Trek collection, but we're talking a huge box and probably 25kg. I don't even want to know what the courier fee for that would be, and it's not even close to a complete collection anyway.

I don't think I've got much that's rare enough not to have turned up on DVD somewhere.

Edit - Oh, I've got 10-15 laserdiscs too (and a player for them). Now those are rare, but probably still worthless.

Same case with some of these as with the VHS, theres some that never got an acceptable release or even just a release on any other format. The LD's maybe worth checking.

Can you imagine what I went through in the 70s?

Yep, I can. I also imagine you can remember the times when you used see pages from porno mags lying in the undergrowth.

I vividly remember I guy at school bringing in a copy of 'Electric Blue' that he'd nicked from his Brother's stash and having the police phoned on him by the overly Christian deputy head. :p

I found my Dad's collection in the early 70s but in 1974/75 a revelation happened.
I used to call in a paper shop to buy Mayfair once a month when the old newsagent asked me if I wanted something stronger.
He pulled out a magazine called Whitehouse which was absolutely amazing and that was shortly followed by Playbirds.
There were several similar mags and they were sold for a couple of years before 'stars' were put over the juicy bits.

Beserker, re the laser discs, if you want to get rid of them there is definitely a market for a lot of them (IIRC there is a version of Star Wars that was only ever available to home users on LD), although you may need to try a specialised forum/site to get the best price for them.

I know that certainly in the case of Anime people will spend silly money for LD's in part because of things like the artwork.

I've been having a similar dilemma to the OP. I think there might be a shop in Brighton that still has a vast stock of VHS. Cheers for prompting me, I shall make enquiries. I must have at least 50 I reckon, when I was a student I'd get totally sucked in by HMV and Virgin three for a tenner deals, etc...

Freecycle, someone will pick them up :)
I've still got a 100% complete set of B5 on VHS (Other than the newest Lost Tales), which I'm not getting rid of.

Unless they are something that hasn't had a DVD release anywhere (unedited original Star Wars Cut!!!!!!!;)) they are generally not worth much if anything these days :(

I think i may have that Star Wars one, how can i tell if it is that one though? I'm not really too up to scratch on the different star wars versions :(

Funnily enough i'm in the same boat as you Beserker. I phoned up my local Mind office who said they would love to use them as prizes when they next have a fundraising event.
