***STREETFIGHTER IV LEAGUE (PS3)***

It was a joke, don't take it too seriously :)

I find online play really dull on SFIV, as you're very limited in terms of gameplay options (so much reaction based stuff is impossible, some characters become non-viable, others are artificially boosted (zoning characters) and the lack of bull dogging makes the game become Turtle Fighter IV).

Decent offline competition is what this game needs to keep your interest, are there no locals in your area who play?

Have to make a new profile, as it won't let me sign into the one that I made on the playstation website. I'll get around to doing it tonight or tomorrow, but I won't be able to play until Wed/Thu.

Ah sorry, clearly another problem i have with SFIV is it puts me in a bad mood :/

Pretty much, and considering the only way to play Abel is bull dogging it makes things rather frustrating. Put it this way, try zoning with a character with no real anti air and no ranged attack, it doesn't go well.

Not really sadly. I live close to central London but one trip there cost me an absolute fortune as all i could find was arcades. I need to find places like you're going to that have 360s/PS3s set up as i think part of what's killed the game for me is the fact i've been forced to move home (uni finished, no money and only just now found a job) and along with it left behind any friends that would/could play street fighter.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you except I'm in Brum and not near London. You need to find your local scene and not your local arcade. Find out who plays regularly (usually at someone's house/LAN centre) and join them. Unfortunately it will mean you will never ever play online again as you will hate how it's a completely different (overly simplified and random) version of the offline game you'll grow to love.

Sorry for the off topic-ness >_<

Mate, I'm near London too, (opposite side to you though) so if you have any joy finding a regular scene let me know. I'd definately be up for it :)

GG's today Tony :) Your Seth needs a bit of work though ;)

@ Jambo - Chill out mate, I've had 12 messages today hounding me to play.
The first time I told you I was updating the new firmware but you kept on messaging anyway, til you went offline. When you came back online I told you I was playing Tony and you still kept spamming messages.

I'm more than happy to forefit my games to you for the league. For me, all I want to do is play other likeminded players and enjoy the game.

EDIT: LOL, I got another while I was typing this, so that's 13 messages!!

Edit 2: Double lol, recount makes it 14

Haha! My original plan was to get a good few games out of the way today as i might not be online next few days so i planned to make things easy for Mpower updating wise etc.
Also i remember playing you a while back your ryu had improved so yeah i wanted to give it a royal thrashing! but seeing as you forefit :D why thanks mate for 6 points.....

* Credit to Chris Beans For giving me 6 points for nothing :S *

Cheers Pal

EDIT: Oh n sorry for the messages i was that eager to give your ryu a pasting :D

Sorry there's no forfeiting games here :) Chris send Jambo a msg whenever you are ready to play and have it out fairly! Jambo chill out with the msgs, 1 msg does the job.

Streeteh, that's a shame, I thought you would have still done quite well (top 5) even though you don't play much anymore. Thought this would have got you back into it but I guess not =/

Sorry for the hilarious amount of messages chris i just dont understand why you would forefit though only playin for fun mate

Stop winding ppl up Jambo, next time just send 1 msg which normally reaches the person and if they are ready to play then play. I'm glad you are hyped to play but relax abit, and like I said Chris will play you when he's ready, you can't hound ppl into forfeiting for an easy 6 points I'm afraid. :)

Take your time with it, hope you are enjoying the new slim :)

Managed to sort out the sign in PSN ID thing, but had to make a new account as I couldn't log in with the other one. My actual PSN ID is "cakeitbaby", which is the new one I had to create.

It's a shame you don't want to goto the arcade as central London has the only two SF4 equipped arcades (Trocadero and Casino) in the whole country.

I don't go regularly by any means, but I drop in sometimes whenever I have to go into Chinatown. Everytime I have been has been on a weekend afternoon/night, and there's always been a small group of people playing there. They play winner stays on, so everyone else puts their quid down and waits their turn. At first it is a little intimidating as everyone else watches you play, but the guys I've spoken to there are all pretty friendly and willing to talk about the game.

Obviously you have to pay everytime, and how much you spend depends on how many people are playing, but I don't think I've ever spent more than £20 in one go, and I'm pants....

The standard of play is high though, but I guess the best way to improve is to play people better than you. Kree is right in saying that the playstyle is a lot different to online XBL/PSN, but you will be able to learn many things and apply them to online play as well - eg. proper spacing for pokes.

Only downside for me is that I'm 29. Most guys there look a lot younger so it makes me feel old :D

I've thought about going up to the Trocadero a few times. Never bothered though as I can't use a stick, I'm not very good anyway, and like you I'm 29 so I'd probably look a tool!!!

I definitely will though, even if it's just once...........

The average age of the Brum scene seems to be about 24 so you shouldn't be too out of place. The neoempire lot seem to complain about the crappy sticks in the London cabs though as they're circular gates with bat tops rather then the proper square gates and ball tops.

I strongly disagree, I learnt far more about spacing in 2 hours of high level offline play than I have in all my time playing online.
