I am new to pc gaming and have only really played on a console so I'm pretty rubbish.

Also some quick tips would be nice.

You have to pay for CS:S nowadays??
Blimey - was free when I last played it... but that was around the time CS1.6 was launched :-/

Am sure i bought the disk of css for about 8quid and it came with day of defeat source and hl2:dm free.
Check play and amazon to see what they are selling it at.

sweet, i may have to initiate a download of this when i get home.

out of interest as im a little old skool (before the days of steam) If you buy a product on steam, and then at a later date format your pc, can you still login to your steam account and redownload the product for free or do you have to pay each and every time?

Nah you just re-install Steam, log in and re-install your games.

You can re-download steam, login and re-download any games you have purchased. It remembers for you, also steam cloud can remember your in game settings, mouse sensitivity etc, which is handy.

You can also install steam and login at other locations and it will download the game wherever you are, handy for playing your games round mates houses.

half life 2:deathmatch can be got for free if you have an ati/nvidia card

garrys mod is a sandbox game, and has far more gameplay potential than all of valves old games

Hmmm new to pc gaming hey, your gona spend quite a bit of time scatching your head shouting at the screen saying " HOW THE**** HELL DID HE DO THAT, NOT ANOTHER ONE SHOT HEAD SHOT, THATS IT SOD CS:S!!!!!" HAHa

I used to be pretty dam good at bf2 and COD4... But CSS is a completely different ball game, if your good at CSS then your more than likely amazing at all other FPS, CSS really is the hardest FPS out there!

Lol anyways bud just go for option 3

Sounds like me when I first played CSS online with some randoms... I just sat there thinking "What the **** is going on here".... "Let me just poke my head around her....... WTF"

hmm i have to disagree, ut was always the hardest online fps to drop into in my opinion, ist just a fast game, it used to be a miracle to get a kill for noobs.
