I'm gonna be taking my Clio 182 in for a Cam Belt change and was wondering if there are any other small things I should get them to change whilst they have the front of the car off.

Having a quick scout around it seems asking for a replacement water pump is a good move, is there anything else?

Also I had my aux belt replaced about 6 months ago, will I need this replacing when they do the cam belt (slacken the aux belt to get to the cam belt?). Since I only had this replaced 6 months ago will renault fork out the cost of the new aux belt?

Aux belt has to come off to get to the cambelt. Change it for the sake of £20. Check the tensioners too.

Yes just ask for the cambelt kit, that includes top and bottom tensioners. Not sure on the prices for F4R but it used to be pretty cheap for the kit..

You'll need to replace both belts. Make sure they are using both belt kits which include the tensioners. The kits aren't particulary cheap around £200 ish for both kits, you've labour in top of that.

If they are not leaking, and you are not losing oil then I don't see why to bother.

£500 - £600 and thats not including the normal oil/filter service if you are also getting one done.

Cool, I had a 36k service earlier this year where they changed Aux belt and vaguely recall them taking a look at the oil/filter stuff then (will have to check the report). Bit gutting because by the time I phoned them back to tell them to change cambelt they said they'd already put car back together......

Im guessing the £500-£600 is parts and labour? I got one of these 20% off cambelt change vouchers if I go to my renault garage......

You'd probably have been better off changing the cam belt as well when the car was in for its 36K service 6 months back. It would have saved you some money, but its always easy to say that in retrospect.

The £500 or so will be including labour, it may be a bit cheaper depeding on whether they need the aux belt kit or just the belt itself. If it was me I'd make sure that they used both kits despite the additional cost. If the Aux belt fails on a 172/182 it has a nasty habit of taking the cam belt (and engine) with it.

Just as an idea on prices for the kits

You can get the service done much cheaper and by more experienced/reliable engineers from an independant specialist. If you live in Cambridge then Angelworks is quite near to you and will do the Cambelt service for around £450
