Rate your driving ability

1) General awareness/anticipation 5, good but sometimes lapses of concentration lets me down.
2) Parking ability 7, oddly I find parking with the front end harder than with the back.:p
3) Brakes/Clutch control - 6,nice and smooth most of the time unless I am lost which then my control suffers.
4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users? 6,Depends, if I'm not in a rush then I am patient if I'm late I do try and overtake (when it is safe to do so)
5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code? 3, basics really.
6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions Haven't driven that fast except on motorway which I doubt I can hardly call that good controlling.

5/8 - How patient and courteous are you to other road users? - depends on my mood.
7 - What is your knowledge of the Highway Code? - 11 yrs since since I did my test but got 35/35 in the theory
8 - High speed control of your car in dry conditions
7 - wet/icy conditions, hmm first winter with RWD might mean I've over estimated myself
6 - Your ability to correct your car when out of shape, doesnt the traction control do that for me?

7 - General awareness/anticipation - can get a bit bored if im not hooning it,

8 - Your ability to correct your car when out of shape - have had feild cars since i was 10, so am used to getting a bit out of shape...

1) General awareness/anticipation
2) Parking ability
3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco?
4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users?

7) " wet/icy conditions
8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape

1) 8
2) 3 (I can't parallel park and generally have to take several attempts to park in a space going forwards. I can reverse into a space fine however.)
3) 8
4) 9
5) 6
6) 9
7) 8 (Don't go high speeds in icey conditions, but control is good)
8) 5

Not the highest marks but I think I'm above average on the roads.

1) General awareness/anticipation - 8
2) Parking ability - 6
3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco? - 8
4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users? - 8
5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code? - 7
6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions - 8
7) " wet/icy conditions - 7
8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape - Unknown - have only owned FWD cars, and a little understeer / locking up is all I've encountered. If I was to drive a RWD car and oversteer, I don't have confidence I'd be able to correct it without a bash on a skidpan or similar first :)

1) 7. I'm fairly good at scanning the road ahead
2) 1. Terrible. I can't parallel park to save my life, and even bay parking I always manage to park wonky somehow.
3) 3. I still stall sometimes. Very embarrassing.
4) 5. Usually very polite and let people out, but I am prone to getting into "moods".
5) 1. Zilch.
6) 5. Average I guess. Is that supposed to be hard?
7) 3. I skidded in the wet once. Luckily regained control before going into anything.
8) 1. No mechanical ability whatsoever. Which is alarming since I work as an engineer.

1) 7 - in general an 8 but mornings are my achilles heel...
2) 9 - no problems there. I'm fat so getting out of the car is more an issue in tight spaces :D
3) 9 - smooth as silk my driving is, my biggest bugbear being driven is cars jumping around
4) 6 - although this would prob drop to a 3 on certain occasions (except learners, with them I'm a 10)!
5) 6 - only for cars though, only recently discovered mini buses have different speed limits on most roads!
6) 8
7) 6 - not so great but still better than average
8) 8 - practice in early years when point 6) above would have rated about a 4 :D

Hahaha. I haven't read through the entire thread, but the ones I have read, everyone rates themselves above average on almost everything. Surely, 50% of people should be rating themselves below average? Because from what I've read, I'm the only one to have done so. :p

I've only glanced through this thread, but I bet that most people (in this thread and in the general driving population) rate themsleves 'better than average' for most stuff. This does mean that 'better than average' is the new average. :p

i am awesome at everything

except i've forgotten how to parallel park after spending a year in the middle of nowhere in norway, where there were no streets to park in :p

seriously though, i probably have minimal skill of controlling my car on the limit, as i have never really reached the limit. plus being f/4wd, all it will do is understeer into a tree.

1) 8. i tend to think that i am very aware of what is going on around me
2) 6. need to parallel park more :p
3) 8. the only bucking bronco is due to my heavy foot on and off the throttle
4) 6. i am rather impatient. GET OUT OF MY WAY! is usually true if i want to press on, but i can be patient if i really cba getting angry.
5) n/a
6) 6
7) 7. improved dramatically after spending said year in norway
8) 5

1) General awareness/anticipation - 7
2) Parking ability - 4 (being harsh here)
3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco? - 5
4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users? 1-8 depending on my mood ;)
5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code? 4 and decreasing with age.
6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions 7
7) " wet/icy conditions 5
8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape 7

I've marked myself in my own car.

1) General awareness/anticipation - 9 (unless there's a fit bird around, at which point it drops sharply)
2) Parking ability - 9
3) Brakes/Clutch control - nice and smooth or bucking bronco? 7, difficult clutch at best
4) How patient and courteous are you to other road users? 8
5) What is your knowledge of the Highway Code? 8
6) High speed control of your car in dry conditions 9
7) " wet/icy conditions 9
8) Your ability to correct your car when out of shape 7, it hasn't been out of shape much over the years

My figures would drop substantially in a rear wheel drive car, as I don't have the experience.

1) 7, I have my Kids in the car with me most times, if you are not at your best then you have a problem

2) 6, not bad with most situations but my parallel parking could/should be better. I can PP but not as fast as some folk I know.

3) 7, pretty smooth from about 20 years on the road, my old dear falls asleep in my car so it can't be that bad.

4) 6, I could probably let a few more cars out than I do, again I'm not the worst but I'm being hyper critical. I don't panic easily but I do get a bit annoyed at 17yr olds driving corsa's flat out when they clearly don't have the skills to do so.

5) 5, Passed my test about 20 years ago & a fair bit has changed. I know most signs etc but I have to be honest & say I would probably fail if I did the theory test right now with no revision.

6) 6, Track days, karting etc (if karting is high speed lol) I do ok. Not up to racing driver standard (they are nutters) but I keep up with the better normal road drivers that turn up to these things. I tend not to go like a madman on the road, as I said the kids & the other half are with me most times.

7) 6, Living in Scotland we get a lot of rain, wel practiced at rain driving lol.

8) 6, Never had an accident in 20 years & only ever has a slight "oh nooo" moment on black ice which I caught before it went too far. not lost it badly because again I don't drive like a pre pubescent with a huge chip on my shoulder.

Average or so on most, like 99% of drivers out there.

Copycat. Read the post above yours. :p

I think there was a survey done recently where >80% of people rated themselves as "above average" in driving skill. I'm willing to bet that a fair few in the remaining 20% are actually better drivers than a lot of those in the 80%, because they actually notice when they do something wrong.

I did say I only glanced through the thread. Your post didn't have a list so I ignored it. :p

BTW I consider myself an 'average' driver, whatever that may be. ;)
