i watched this last night, i thought it was ok. I wondered why they didnt take all the rest of the aliens home once they got the ship running. i hope they plugged the hole that got drilled too ;)

How would they manage to get more than two million of them into the mothership at once?

I went to see it earlier and thought it was superb.Deffo the best film i've seen in a while.
And to the question of why they didn't attacck us with the the weapons they had - because that would be suicide.1 million of them all in one place, they attack and they would have been killed straight away.
I really don't see why people want to find plot holes in films, why not just watch and enjoy them?

Just saw it tonight. Thought it was a brilliant film - quite refreshing. But I was surprised at the amount of inspiration taken from video games e.g hl2, quake

I only wished the ending had been more complete

Just a thought but if it can float in the air I'm pretty sure it would be able to land on the ground so they can walk in.
Sounds a bit far fetched I know.

But would MNU and the government have let that happen? They seemed desperate to take their one change of developing new tech.

Bad film on so many levels. I know this is OCUK and is geared towards techies and Gamers, So this film is right up your street (sterotyping - sorry)

But IT WAS terrible. smelt like a game to film conversion.

1. too many plot holes - here are a few questions

a. why did they only go in to the ship only once in 20 years?
b. Why was there alien weaponary on the ground if Humans transported them down their? why why why
c. Why wouldn't the aliens fight back if there were tons of big guns?
d. Why was it set in South Africa? pointless excuss to annoy people with the acent.

5/10

It was a brilliant film. Nice to have a very different twist to the alien invasion films.
and those weren't plot holes. Humans couldn't use the technology and the aliens couldn't get to the ship.
The aliens must have hid the weapons when they where taken of, totally reasonable assumption.
Although there was weapons compared to the 1million aliens there was hardly any.
Why not in south Africa. Why should everything be set in America.

He meant us, the humans, and it's a good point. I'd imagine once we had sipped out all the Prawns we would be all over that ship (they had already cut a hole in the hull remember) to harvest new technologies.

.

Assumely we did as all tech and bodies shown in he MNU building. But as the film explained all the technology was linked to alien DNA.

Best film this year for me, awesome, felt realistic (as much as an Alien film could!).

janesssssy - The film was set in SA for a reason you completely missed the subtext.

Man I can't believe how good this movie was. Easily the best I have seen for a long time at the cinema. These days I can't really remeber since I've come out of a movie feeling totally satisfied and wanting more.

I would'nt mind so much if there wasn't a sequel, mainly just because this movie was so good. But a sequel could take many directions, just as prequel could aswell.

I thought the action in the movie was amazing, and the alien weponary was great aswell. On a £30million budget this director has certainly made a name for himself.

What's to be confused about? it was an R5 source so bound to be as good as DVD picture quality wise.

Still, this is a cinema film, see it there at least once!

Watched this film last night and thought it was really good. Didn't expect much form the film as I didn't see the trailer beforehand but was glad that I went to see it in then end.

Saw this film tonight, i did enjoy it but i wasn't as breathtaken as some of the posters in this thread seem to be.

*SPOILERS*

I don't understand why the aliens were such pushovers for the nigerians. Begging for cat food and getting killed, all the nigerians had were a few guns and machetes, they had alien weaponry capable of exploding soft tissue on target, and a bunch of other deadly weapons at their fingertips yet they didn't do anything to stand up for themselves

Granted, taking on the entire world wouldn't have been an easy task but they surely could have stood their ground when it came to the nigerians or other pushy humans.

Although overall the film was great and i did hate wikus with a passion when he knocked out christopher, and then ruined the ship  But turned out alright in the end, will definitely see the follow up though. 6.5/10

If you recall the start of the film it explains that the ship just paused over the city, the humans had to force themselves in after no one from within came out, what they found was malnourished aliens and much suffering hence why they were brought out to be helped but then after x years things got out of control and by that time the aliens were unable to reach the mothership and it would seem only Christopher Johnson was capable of reaching the ship by means of getting the liquid he needs to power his ship which in turn is capable of controlling the mothership.
