Best hot hatch atm?

I was sitting in a mates Focus RS which was parked right next to a mates R26-R couple of weeks back and they were very different. Seats in the R26-R are fantastic and it also has a great little driving position too, better I felt than the Focus. I never drove either (I could have but there was food on) but they are quite different in their approach. I thought both look great but I would take Frenchy without hesitation.

I'd say the Megane is the best with no compromise, although all I can base that on is an episode of Top Gear.

However, the difference is slim, and the compromises in the Megane are just outrageous. The RS is actually very good all round and still pretty damn close to being one of the very best. Depends if you like the looks, imo.

I assume the interior is going to be as nasty as my ST was, though.

I hate them but the corsa GSI will outperform a lot of cars atm on power to weight they simply plaster most cars... wouldn't get one tho.

Golf R32 is very good - but personally I'd still go with the VR6 - nothing like it for driving on the open road imo.

What did you feel made it a better drivers car than the Megane?

Because to be the "best" it has to do everything well. The RS might be slower than the Megane around a track, but as a daily car, it's not even close.

There's no point in the Megane being a "hot hatch" if it doesn't do the "hatch" bit very well.

You mean Corsa VXR?

The last corsa GSi had a 1.6 N/A in it, which in no way blow away most if any hot hatches of todays era.

Come on, even I know thats nowhere near the best hot hatch atm.

What's wrong with a Cooper S JCW?

You wont find a single bad review.

To be fair the op hasn't even given a budget or anything, or stated if he wants it to be comfortable as a daily driver etc.

When people are talking about things like a Megane R26-R, I think the mini having a small boot and not the best back seats isn't all that bad.

I much prefer the looks of the RS over those of the Megane !
