Best music in a game?

Portal - Still Alive!

One of the few games that had credits worth watching (and for reasons other then to see if there was any secrets after the credits scroll by).

Rob Hubbard was a legend on the C64 scene.

Anyway best music ever -- Warhawk

next:

Sanxion

next .. Wizball

Finally ..

Thrust if you could be bothered to wait for the 2.5 minute really slow intro to pass!!

OP -- sounds like you and me think alike!! :)

Titus the Fox - Amiga 2000

Streets of Rage I - Megadrive

Streets of Rage II - Megadrive

Final Fantasy 6 (or 4 if you were in the States i think) - SNES

Metal Gear Solid I/II (Theme song) - PS1/PS2

Ninja Gaiden - Xbox

The original F-Zero on the SNES had ace music too.

Think someone re-did them all as well to make em sound even better.

The turrican tunes on the amiga by chris huselbeck (i think thats how its spelled) were awesome. Pretty much anything from Factor 5 was good, also a lot of the amiga cracktro chip tunes were good, some were remakes from c64 games. Another tune which comes to mind is the intro/outtro from battle squadron on amiga. Also game music from team17`s games was cool too. Used plenty of chip tunes in intros myself. [SR]

The music at the finale of the Pegasus Bridge level in the original Call of Duty:

in fact, the whole of that game had very evocative music throughout :D

I think Shadow of the Beast is right up there - particualarly the remake below is awesome.

I also think Turrican 2, Bubble Bobble and many others should get mentions. Mainly because that was when making computer music was hard work rather than the rehashed rubbish we have now in particularly the 'music' that's in FIFA, PES, Tiger Woods, etc.
