IGN top 25 consoles (broken from the PS3 Slim thread)

Anyone see IGN'S TOP 25 consoles of all time list? They're clearly trying to stir things up amongst the ps3 crowd.

Watch and wonder why a site like IGN are still in business. Shambles


15 - PS3
10 - Wii
11 - Xbox
06 - Xbox 360

Not sure what they're basing their list on. I guess its the impact the consoles made on the industry... still, clearly they want PS3 owners to respond just like I am right now.

I see nothing wrong with it, if anything the Xbox should switch places with the 360.

That paved the way for online gaming on consoles today, Dreamcast started it, Xbox finished it.

It's not like Sony have done much this gen, at least Microsoft mixed things up by adding achievements. What have Sony brought to the table? They still haven't caught up to the 360 software wise. (mainly talking about online functionality)

You seriously cant think it belongs in 15th? Out of 25 consoles...15th?

Dreamcast, N64, PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, Xbox, Snes, Mega drive, Master System, Nes

PS3 should be in the top 10, And you're disillusioned if you think otherwise.

And yes, Xbox should be higher up the chain than the 360.
 
Out of the last 10 years it's easily, PS1 > Dreamcast > PS2 > Xbox > Xbox 360 > Wii > PS3

Can't believe I just rated the Wii above the PS3 but it did bring something new.

Not sure where I would put the Gamecube mind.

To be honest, I can't think of any reason why the PS3 should be anywhere higher than 15. The 360 came out a whole year before, and the PS3 came out with half the features missing and slowly implemented them over time with none of the effectiveness of the 360 equivalents (voice chat, achievements, unified friends list, custom soundtracks). It didn't help that it was priced at a premium point, yet many couldn't find the proper justification for it.

You have to look at the facts. The PS3 is an awesome console now, but it was like giving birth to a baby that came out sideways and blue in the face.
 
I'm going to pardon the knee-jerk defensiveness there, but it was clear as daylight that the launch of the PS3 could have been so much better, and most likely a clear factor into why it's not in the top ten consoles according to IGN.
 
That IGN ( very poor) list should have gone into a seperate thread TBH its only going to lead to loads of console wars in this one.
 
I didn't want to create a separate thread for it as I know it would only lead to a ps3 vs 360 debate. I thought by posting it in here things wouldn't be so hostile.

There are several reason i think its pretty poor, but it depends on what exactly they are looking for. I would put the dreamcast above the 360 and the PS1 above that and i would have put the SNES above the NES. In all honesty i would not put any of the current gen consoles in that top 25 as this gen has only started to get going.
 
N64 > PS1 > Snes > Mega Drive > Dreamcast > Gamecube > Xbox > 360 > PS2

just going from what I've owned
 
the 360 with its 4 million % failure rate... aye class

Prehaps they went round and asked people how many times they'd owned each console, that would inflate the 360's score as everyone thats ever got one is on like there 4th cause of RROD
