I've been looking around on the internet, and it seems it won't be released untill L.E.D tv's are more common. I'm guessing 2011/2012.

Well im hoping it's sooner rather than later.

What really grinds my gears, is people calling it the 720?

360 represents world wide, so 720 would be pretty redundant.

If it's going to be numbers then surely 1080?

Hense HD gaming.

Modern Warfare 2 is top priority for me at the moment.

That and probably Mass Effect 2 and Need for speed Shift.

No news on a new 360 yet, just one bundled with Natal.

I think what hapened is an MS rep bungled the lines of new Xbox/Xbox project and people thought that mean a new Xbox was due next year.

I don't think they will go with 720 for the next one either.

Yeah i heard it will come standard with Natal. I'm not in the market for Natal to be honest. I play a lot of multiplayer and unless they can make it ridiculously precise, i'll be sticking with my sticks.

Its only called 360 to have the number 3 in it. It would look pretty silly having a Playstation 3 and an Xbox 2 on the same shelf. It would also be pretty confusing.

In 2011/2012 1080p wont be the best resolution.. so it would be pointless calling it that.

Possibly the problem is related to PC Hardware development.

Consoles have always playing catchup to PC Hardware untill the last ~2-3 years.

PC Development has seemed to stand still, consoles this gen are pretty much caught up gfx wise, and online has taken off in a big way too now, which was previously a staple +1 for the PC Industry.

Without trying to start a flamewar - the PS3 and 360 both look amazing this year compared to the best PC titles, the difference is almost non existant when compared to the gap at previous generations, so what is there to actually upgrade consoles to take advantage of?

And if PC's cant manage far superior gfx in a ~£2000 box, how the hell are console devs supposed to manage it for a new £~300 device?

Its no coincidence that both MS and Sony were working on similar projects (Eyetoy movement capture and Natal), the only improvements which actually make sense at the moment are those in control innovation.

lmao. This is probably the most ridiculous post I've ever read on these forums!!! You clearly don't know anything. I have a pc and a ps3 and can tell you that relatively cheap pcs can and do outperform the ps3 quite easily.

People have been calling it the 720 because that is the 360 doubled. I read somewhere that it was called the 360 because of the 360 degrees light on the front of it. The same light that you use to diagnose hardware faults. Also if you watch when it boots up the led's light up in a manner that makes it appear as if it is spinning 360 degrees.

As for a new console, in my opinion there are plenty of games that have good reviews that I am yet to play and as such the current generation offers me a lot more playtime for at least the next 2 or 3 years. :)
