District 9 review...it's looking good... **SPOILERS**

Just seen this at the Imax. It wasn't awesome but was definately worth a watch on the nice big screen! I enjoyed it, having not read up much about it beforehand.

Well I watched this last night and absolutely loved it!

film of 2009 for me and probably one of the best sci-fi's I've seen in ages,

10/10 for District 9, Star Trek 8/10 ;)

edit - Infact I'd go as far to say this is as good as when I first seen Alien!

Saw this with some old Uni mates in Manchester on Thursday. Thought it was pretty good although I found the South African accents a bit hard to make sense of. Was amazed it was a 15 with the ****** and blinding. :D On the way out one of my mates was shocked it was a 15 when I said it was a 15 and not an 18. :D

The special effects impressed me the most. Those aliens looked real and there in the scene with the humans. Not bad for a non-Hollywood backed film. :)

Looks to me like they've left it open for a sequel called District 10. Set about three years later etc. ;)

*Spoiler alert*

I know what you mean, we were saying the same thing. Like when the army dude got his head ripped off. I don't think i've seen a 15 before where you see someone get dismembered so graphically in front of you. Made me laugh though, am i a bad person?

I wish they showed a bit more of inside the mothership though.

Seen it, think it's overrated, I know it's a sci fi but even for that some of the scenes and things just look too fake imo, overall though, still very enjoyable, 7/10 imo.

you mean there really isn't a huge space ship hovering over Johannesburg?

Just watched it at IMAX yesterday. The best film I've seen this year. But some people laughing all the time just totally spoiled my mood. I can understand some people don't like it, but what's funny in it? Even when they forced van de mere shot a prawn in the laboratory, the man beside laughed when flesh all over the screen. WTF, maybe people are as ugly as in the film. And that's why I need a home theatre.

We had a bunch of chavs shouting out and annoying people around them when i went on Friday. So i missed a lot from the first few scenes as i was a few rows in front of them. They got kicked out fairly quickly, but seriously, why pay the extra for IMAX if you don't actually care about the film? I'll never understand that.

watched it other day. was ok but I wouldnt rave about it. Although my mate in work with simular tasted loved it to bits.

Neither are comedies... Star ship troopers may be very kitsch and hammy but it still can't be described as being in the 'comedy' genre.

Its a satire, it pretty much killed Paul Verhoeven's hollywood career when the big wigs at the studio finally twigged on he was taking the **** with it.

Its the same with Robocop, do you know there are actually people out there who think its a film about a cyborg policeman?

Unbelievable!
