On the market again. Had enough of the little niggles i've had over the year with my Ibiza FR. Test drove one today and the refinement, drive quality and noise level was sooo much better, reminds me of why i should never have sold my 525D SE (though at the time i needed money and the profit was huge as i got it under special circumstances).
Looking for a lowish mileage one with roughly 70-80k and possibly 05-56 plate. What should i be looking out for in terms of service history and known faults etc..? Hoping to see about 7.5k for part EX and overall budget of 10k -ish with max around 10.5k, is this doable?

Cheers all!

To be honest I'd rather have an absolutely mint E46 320d Sport over a shabby early E90 320d at this budget. I'd want £12-13k+ for a nice E90 320d.

I was thinking along those lines as well. Though i have found a 56' 330D thats done 81k, FSH etc.. and looks to be in quite good shape for 11k, will go and have a look when i can.

Agreed, late E46 is the way to go here. Given the increased weight of the E90 I think the performance margins with the M47 unit are, err, marginal (if any).

I know, hence why i'm carrying two mechanics, mate of mine who does check overs for the AA and a mate whos a VW dealership mechanic. We're a bit dubious, its a trader but who knows? lol.

It's a trader? Not sure I'd even waste my time. Why would a trader sell a perfectly good 330D at trade book money?

Got a link to the advert?

I have a E90 320D and I love it :) There doesn't seem to be any major issues with them unlike with the E46 and Audi 2.0TDI turbos.

Things you want are M Sport seats! I adore them and so does everyone whos tried them, you can adjust the bolsters depending on how fat you are which is handy!

I think if you increase your budget to 12k you should be able to get a decent example.

Just an edit you can drop a remap on and get 200bhp + and 400nm + without even trying for more!

Don't forget the M47 was never any more powerful than 150bhp in the E46.

Yep and only 161bhp in the E90, 148bhp. 13bhp is in fact probably in the E46s favour (1490 vs 1375 respectively)
