I agree, I think as a married couple you'd be more sensible to save up for a deposit on a house/flat for your home together...
My sisters fiance's Dad designs jewellery, and he had a ring made for my sister, she proposed to him on leap day, and then he told her to sit down with his Dad and design the ring of her choice. If it's a tasteful and nice ring or a ring that is "the one", does it matter what it costs? If it's one that makes her smile when she sees it, if it's one that makes it special so what if it's cheap or expensive? A friend of mine makes jewellery and made a unique custom ring for a friend who wanted to propose, and it wasn't expensive, but turns out to be priceless to the woman in question.
Amen to that! I don't understand spending silly money on weddings. Vegas all the way, or something on the cheap and then a bloody brilliant honeymoonThen again I still think spending 5 figures on a wedding is daft - though spending 5 figures on a holiday/honeymoon is much more sensible!![]()
so i'd want to spend more to make it more special / better quality.
Go to NY as the diamonds are dirt cheap compared to back here in the UK.
I spent a grand, then we split up, and I sold it for £550 and bought myself a LCD TV![]()
Makes me sad when people say this. Why does it have to cost more it's supposed to be symbolic! If it has to cost more I'd be questioning why that's important..
I thought rings kept their value pretty well?
