Hi all,

What will be the best way to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on the PC?
Will it be better on Steam or is the the retail version still the way to go? I've got 2 or 3 games on Steam before but I've never played multi-player on Steam. I don't know if there will be any noticeable difference.
What do you think, Steam or retail?

I'll get it from Steam eventhough it's almost guarenteed to be more expensive. No noticable difference apart from greater convenience getting it from Steam.

It could be that Steam do a special pre-order offer, too, such as buy this for 10% off or get Modern Warfare 1 for free.

I'd say the former is more likely as MW1 sold bundles. Neither however will happen imo, Activision wouldn't let them.

I buy from Steam usually, but I always tend to buy a retail version of a game if I know it's gonna be using Punkbuster. I like the idea of my CD key being printed inside the sealed copy of the game. Strange, but that's me :p

reatil obviously because steam has stupid activation ? activate it once its permanently linked to that ac**** retail will be cheaper + you can sell it on when bored with it

Id personally say STEAM, because it downloads the updates for you itself.

However its also nice to have the retail discs and the ability to sell on, so go for the cheaper option.

If you pay me £10 I'll download and install the patches for you. :p

Personally I'll be avoiding buying non-Valve games off Steam. I made the mistake of buying CoD:WaW from Steam, and every time the game gets patched Steam users get shafted for a week or more (we have to wait until Steam/devs work together and release the patch over Steam).

Such a shame, Steam could be great. It should be far cheaper than other retail routes for buying a game, yet it's often far more expensive. Publishers should LOVE you buying games over Steam, with minimal distribution costs and ZERO manufacturing costs, so why still shaft the majority of customers - I really don't understand.
