Naked airport scanner

I don't see what people are getting so uppity about. If the security guard wanted porn, he could just google it and get good quality pictures. Assuming the scanned produces similar quality pictures to the one in the BBC article, nobody's going to get off to that, so what's the problem! And this is at an airport too, so there's going to be hundreds of people per hour, you aren't going to remain in anyone's memory from it!

That said, it mentioned that breast implants will be highlighted by the xrayer... up next, women filling their breasts with semtex and claiming its an implant? :x

Is it the same process as an x-ray where the rays can't bypass dense objects such as bone and Guns persay? Obviously different image process which I can't be bothered figuring out.

It doesn't go as deep as showing your bones. Your entire body shows up as white, shaded in the necessary areas to produce a 3D image, against a black background but it looks as if it can see an inch or two below the flesh so if there are any dense objects hidden internally (weapons, drugs etc..) they will show up as a darker colour against your white frame.

Ms Barrett said the black-and-white image would only be seen by one officer in a remote location before it was deleted.
I can image a hairy fat man in a cabin in Greenland wearing an officer uniform with a whole arsenal of sex toys and lubes to his disposal.

Also, regarding that whole image thing, it can hardly be a problem, can it? The machine doesn't need to be connected to the internet, just the scanner. And it doesn't need any USB ports so block them off/disable them from the BIOS. What orther ways would there be to steal them?
Heck, would they even be saved as images? Surely they just appear on the screen while the person stands in the machine, then get replaced once the next person is in?

the chance of someone having a bomb is a million to one, so thats why i bring my own bomb, the chance of 2 independent people having a bomb is a trillion to one!!!!

Yeah this won't go down well when staff start stealing images, I can see it happening.

I can see perverts the world over rejoicing!

So what happens when children need to board a plane?

yeah because instead of using the internet full of high quality photos and videos of every perversion and every age they would instead like to fap over this

If it keeps us safe from harm whilst we travel, why not? We can't allow for us to have the lax security we have had in the past since 'terrorists' started attacking us.

Remind me again the last time a terrorist boarded a plane from a uk airport and blew it up?...

We have always had one of/the toughest security at our airports, going back 40+ years when the IRA were running about blowing stuff up every week. Unfortunately for those that were in planes that flew into towers and spontaneously combusted over the last 20-30 years places like the US, europe and the rest of the world didn't...

Anyway

and they cannot be stored or captured in any way," she said.

Yeah, obviously, ever heard of a camera...

As for those that have to look at those images, I wonder if there will be a support system in place for getting those horrible images of fat people out of their minds.:(:p

I could say the same thing about all these "security measures". Pointless paranoia. Are we all sheep that need to be tagged and herded while travelling?

If you owned a collection of hundred million dollar + vehicles you wouldn't spend a few million dollars to protect them?

Why did you assume I was talking about using the photos for perverted matters? All I said was stealing images.

You're assuming several things here. Mainly in the logic of the system and software itself.

Also, mobile phone camera etc..

Well the easy way to protect your modesty, just get that tinfoil and make a pair of pants. :p

Also I was thinking the other day, what's to stop a terrorist from sitting next to an emergency exit and just opening the door at 30,000 ft?

Judging by the stance in the photo this is the security device I went through leaving Vegas in March. There is nothing to it really except you still had to remove all metal objects and possibly shoes and lose clothing, so it didn't really speed that process up.

I believe that the image does show up in a separate room as the security personnel had to wait for a radio communication to say it was ok to step out and the next person go in.

It is slower than the normal place items on the belt and walk through the detector but I guess it is more thorough and in time the technology will improve and the speed will increase.
