HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

I'm in the same boat. would really like to know how to get the best out of this phone so if people could point us in the right direction-or anybody could provide it as a sticky for future users, that would be great.

I've been offered one of these as an early (3-months before end of contract) upgrade to my current G1 on T-Mobile. They want £100 for it, though.

This will be on a 12-month Bronze tariff, £22/month with unlimited data.

Worthwhile, or shall I just run my contract down? I've been with them for 12 years, since they were One2One.

Yes this works as i have just loaded the [ROM] 14/10 2.6 - MoDaCo Custom ROM Core on my branded Orange phone which was also updated with the new HTC Hero firmware.

No, 1.6 is probably looking like mid November now at the earliest IMO.

That instant root didn't seem to work for me...

Got mine from orange today and the firmware is 1.5.
Is that old or new?

thats the android release, look for kernel version and build number

Has anyone else had problems with the Hero's browser not loading webpages? I get it on overclockers especially where the loading bar at the bottom of the screen seems to get stuck and this can last for like 3mins +. It will load the page eventually but other times its fine??

takes quite a while on data connection but fine on wifi for me
