RFID chips, here they come!

Over the years I've learned never to say "nothing to hide, nothing to fear" because it seems to set of a chain reaction of comments like this. Yet no one ever clarifies exactly whats wrong with saying this.

Proponent - "I don't mind lots of CCTV. I've done nothing wrong."
Opponent - "Your naive ignorance amuses me. Dance for me clown!"

I'm not trying to incite a flame war, I'm just curious for a logical explanation backing up your comment. I'm also not picking sides here so don't confuse this for a pro-RFID post.

Why fail?

I fear having to prove that I have nothing to hide. Saying that "I've got nothing to hide" is a fallacy, because you can never know what you're hiding from.

Besides, if you claim that you've got nothing to hide, and simultaneously have curtains on your windows, you're a hypocrite.

Here's a better argument: http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=998565

I expect that the eventual long term intention is to chip humans, they already chip animals and clothing. I don't like it one bit of course, they will make this 'move' slowly over a longish period of time. If it was initiated quite quickly then it would never work since people wouldn't accept it. Too much of a jump in a short space of time.

Care to expand? Examples?

There is a shed load of information both on here and on the internet about the erosion of liberties we've suffered, a lot under the recent labour government. Why not get your head out of the sand and try reading a little?

RFID or something similar is the future, get with the program people.

Lots of knee jerk kind of replies.

I for one, welcome out RFID overlords. Infact put RFID in everything! Then I can know where I put my keys, or how long the food in the fridge has left, or if assets are where they should be at work or... etc etc. It's the future don't ya know.

To whose who claim they have nothing to hide - does that mean you'll give out your name, address, and bank details, right here in this thread?

OK, it's a lame example, but you DO have something to hide - you just don't realise it.

Back to the OP, any video (or web page/post) with "100% Proof" in the title should get the originator shot. Start with a superficial wound and progress from there. :D

I can certainly see benefits to doing this - it would be far more reliable than the current MedicAlert system (necklace or bracelet), but as this thread has shown there would be such a backlash as to make it unworkable - even though almost all of that is based upon paranoia.

I don't have a problem with it, hate to be the odd one out. They can put one in me as long as it's got a record of me being available for organ donation when I'm dead.

If it were only to give medical info... I'd just wear a medical bracelet thing :p
Don't want all my details implanted in me arm... wont take long for some yobbo on the street to create a scanner than skims my id and all my stuffs gone... etcetc minorityreport etc
hehe.

I am not having an RFID chip implanted in me, even if its intentions and application are purely to help the NHS.

hrmm at work so cant see the links. Is this a serious thread though?

Secondly, i'm not up to date on what kind of technology can be implanted within you to track you (whether it be in RFID chip form or another
means). We can only object to that which we know about...

If it can be delivered in things like food, injections, water supply then...our opinion is pretty much moot on whether we want it or not.

National security overrides everything folks :p
