Naga jolokia chillis

Right well i've just bought some naga jolokia's online for me and a few mates to try, already had some scotch bonnets and they were pretty painful.
How bad are they, what am I getting myself into?
 
Going by scoville rating at least 4-5 times as bad as a scotch bonnet, probably more.

I like hot food and have friends who like hot food but when I tried to give them the ghost pepper sauce (basically naga sauce) they wouldn't touch it, it's seriously hot.

The naga hot sauces are good stuff, put some dashes into a marinade and use it to coat chicken pieces, yum :)

If you do buy whole chillis do remember to wear gloves while handling them, you dont want to get it on your fingers then into your eyes :eek:
 
I love the hot stuff and a few months ago I tried one of these.

Seriously dude, use with caution I honestly thought I was going the A&E way, because the burning is not only unbelievably intense it just doesn't go away.

A glass of liquid nitrogen is about the only thing that will cool your mouth enough to make a difference...
 
I bought some Dorset Nagas from Tesco the other week, which are a similar level.
I tried a little piece of one raw and it didn't seem too bad, so I tried a slightly bigger piece of one raw and again it didn't seem all that hot.

So, next step was to try cooking with one, I used half a chilli with the seeds removed in a stir fry.
Within about about 30 seconds of whacking the chilli into the hot wok I could barely breath from the fumes, I spent the next few minutes attempting to cook the stir fry while avoiding the chilli fumes.

Eventually got it cooked and once finished I think I made it about 3/4 of the way through with the help of a pint of milk!
It certainly wasn't pleasant to eat and I felt it the next day as well :eek:
 
im such a wuss when it comes to spicey stuff, thai sweet chilli dip gives me a lil sweat

ill avoid these

real men drink that stuff like water! :p

seriously though OP...be careful :p its not the eating of the chili thats bad, its the dread sat on the toilet the next day.

Heat wise - well that depends. If you're used to Scotch bonnets and like me can eat store bought "hot" peri petters raw then you should be fine.

I did a thai red curry with king prawns and used a single green Dorset Naga. The effects are subtle - the source is hot but each of the prawns builds to a lava red hot but still eatable level. You'll feel warm in side for several hours.

Brought some scotch bonnets the other for the first time. One of them was a dud and tasted more like a red pepper, the other one I used in a few meals over a few days. Yesterday morning I awoke and nearly broke my toilet.
 
my friend is a bit of a show off when it comes to hot food, eats phalls etc.. one day he decided to have a curry in a local place called the Lamb Naga, proclaimed the hottest curry in town.

going in it looked painfull, lots of sweat and tears... coming out was worse aparantly. i advise to buy one of those hemaroid cushions as it will not be pleasent to sit down and post on here that your anus is now destroyed.
