Currently, around £450 on a D60, kit lens & 50mm 1.8

However, I have a shopping list ready and once purchased will be between £5-6K :S

its what most people spend on their hobbies

have a look at how much cash some people spend on their cars over the years. Yes some of it is required, but a lot of it is spent upgrading or modifying stuff, or simply buying extra petrol for driving around for pure enjoyment rather than computing

Some people have spent 10s of thousands modifying their cars, so you're not alone.

Canon 450D -€400 used
Canon 50mm 1.8 - €110
Canon 24-105 L - €900
Wacam Bamboo - € 50
Memory etc - €50ish
Total - €1510

Soon to add Sigma 30mm 1.4, Canon430EX II and maybe ST-E2 or Canon 10-22 so it'll be over the €2000 mark soon enough :(

Nikon D40 - £200
Tripod £35
Small Tripod - £15
UV Filter - £15
Soon to purchase 450D - £499
Soon to purchase Nifty Fifty - £100

Total - £865

Definately not as much as a LOT of you but i'm only just starting :)

MrLOL - couldn't agree more, say the exact same thing when people say about my PC, as i'm always changing bits and upgrading it..

I know, I wasn't saying it's a bad thing in the slightest. But no way would I have thought I've spent nearly 3k :p - Just something to pass the time :D

My kit is insured for £5.3k, not including a £1.5k iMac with Applecare...

When i get into my sister's polo, the value of her car doubles ! lol

I spent
Canon 20D - £200ish
18-55mm IS - £60
50mm f1.8 MK2 - £80
55-250mm IS - £190
Lowepro Fastpack 200 - £50

Olympus E420 + 25mm Pancake - £400
ZD 14-42mm - £90
Metz 48 AF-1 Flashgun - £150
Stofen - £15
Reflector (gold-silver) - £10

Olympus E620 + spare battery + grip - £460
ZD 14-54mm - £370
ZD 50mm - £320
Lightsphere - £27
Crumpler Messenger Backpack - £80

Net total: £2502
(minus £370 for selling on my Canon kit)
Grand total: £2132

I did give my E420 and 14-42mm to my little brother so not sure if that counts as what I've spent in grand total, even then it's still a lot of money invested. Since my last upgrade (E620, 14-54mm, 50mm), I am not seeing any upgrade in the near future till I further improve with what I've got!

I still can't believe I could buy a new BMW 5 series the cost of my kit.. and still have enough left to buy the new 1D MkIV

Yes but a BMW isn't going to make us go wow and wee over your Seal shots... along with many other epic wild life shots you've done.
