Just got a refund for one of these as it wasnt reading DVDs I got it when it was £550. I have found it for £450 now is this the best available at this price?

Need advice before i press that buy button

You're not going to get any advice on best prices etc around here - discussing competitors is against the rules!

surely asking if its good value for that price isnt against the rules? i am not asking for where i can buy it at that price, purely an opinion on value for money, rereading my post it seems im asking if i can find it cheaper, i just mean are there any other laptops i should look at around that price

A quick google suggest it can be had for £450 on the high street, so 500 sounds expensive.

I'm not a big acer fan - had loads of problems with build quality and reliability, so I'd look at something else. Although if spec's important, you're going to struggle to beat an Acer in terms of bang for buck at this price range

You obviously didnt read my post correctly. I bought mine for £550 a few months ago and just got a refund due to a faulty optical drive. And so I was asking if there is anything that beats it around the £450 price mark.

Dell studio 15 perhaps? I got the spec in my sig for £450 although that was a refurb from dell (looks and works like new though).

What are the specs like on the acer you're looking at? as the 6930's seem to vary quite a bit spec wise.

New or refurb for £440?I got a 6935g refurb for £440, didnt even look like it had been used, think it must have been end of line stock.

i found some like 5530g for £399..radeon HD3650 gfx 512mb...thats got to be a bargin!

New, i ordered it in the end and is being delivered today, my last one was a 6935g with a 9600m gs even though it was listed as a 6930g, so I wonder if this will be the same, just hope it doesnt have the same issue with the optical drive.
