From 1 to 10 rate the area where you live.

Epsom (Surrey) 9/10 – I have lived in few places in SW London (Oval, Roehampton, Putney, Surbiton) in the last 8 years and Epsom is definitely the nicest place I have lived so far. This is based on crime, people, things to do, shopping etc.

Could you explain the scale a bit more, it seems terribly subjective and not at all empirical.

I would suggest maybe, list the things you like and dislike about where you live.

Bracknell (Berkshire) 2/10 saved by the dry ski slopes and ice rink, but mostly it's close proximity to Reading, sadly crime rate is not a good number, not high, but higher than it should be, town is aweful, majority of people are morons and probably has the highest amount of roundabouts per square mile in the country

There are no criteria, it's based only on how you feel about the area where you live.

Oh, I can see where this is going now :(

Straford Upon Avon - 7 out of 10.

I dislike the fact the shopping is terrible and they lack any real decent shops locally in the town or the retail park.

I do love the fact you can walk everywhere though and the fact there are some nice parks/walks/green areas to take the kids too.

Clifton in Bristol is just awesome in every way... :)

Well apart from very high house prices, I guess that shows how attractive the place is.

3/10.

Rough estate. North Edinburgh. Lots of fake gangsters, slappers morons and ho's. Drunks and junkies. Never had bother at my door, nor in my street for myself personally. Usual stolen motor bikes hoaring it about. I tower over most of them, and my face is well known enough. Good local ammenities, brilliant access to city centre, by-pass and M8. Close to the beach, fields and forrests. Brilliant for criminal behavour.

Want a house, and to return to more calm surroundings like my in my childhood. :)

Hightown (Merseyside) 7/10 - Pretty affluent area, low crime, great natural coastline with features such as the red squirrel reserve in formby. Low ammenities in the immediate area though, a few shops and a pub.

On the plus side has a train station on the merseyrail network which has a 4 times per hour direct service into central Liverpool with a journey time of 20 minutes, good motorway links too with the M58 and M57 about 10 minutes away.

Shopping wise Liverpool One is the best local destination with some great restaurants nearby and all of the other city centre attractions such as the most art galleries and museums outside of London.

Cambridge - 9/10

Gorgeous city with amazing architecture. Everything is within walking/cycling distance, there's very little crime, and the chavs only really appear at weekends.

Bedminster, Bristol.

5/10

Its not too bad, not exactly the nicest place to live but it's reasonable close to everything and is not overly chavy, have some nice neighbours and its quite quiet.

The main problem is the amount of pups around, my mumbs car has been broken into once and vandelized 3 times, had our garrage doors kicked in once and it can be quite annoying on the weekend with drunken morons wandering past.

1-10 scales are incredibly subjective. In fact, it's more 1-9 as you can never have 10 (perfection). This makes the average half of this, 4.5. However, is you average comparable to mine?

We grew out of 1-10 scales at uni oh so sexistly rating chicks.

My area has its pros and cons, usually identical. E.g. I live in the city centre - both pro and con. Etc.

Wimbledon - 8/10

Zone 3, wimbledon and south wimbledon stations are both 5 minutes walk (I live between them, centre court shopping mall is nice and have some good shops here, wimbledon village is very expensive (bought a pair of trousers for £255!) and the transport links are awesome :D

Heckmondwike 6/10 ,getting better they have closed the chemical Factory near my house! and the sewage works!
theres the national cycle network going through it and they are building an eco village , theres the Ponderosa rural centre that we overlook ,they have lots of military displays and reconstructions with afew air displays

St Agnes (there afew months a year) 9/10
National trust so very unspoilt ,amazing walks around the beacon and the beaches.
two main beaches Chapel porth ,top west facing surfing beach ,Trevuance cove ,North facing so I can surf when Chapel is maxed out ,very handy
only downside is it gets very very busy in peak season

Blackpool 2/10 - they're trying to improve the image though which is why I gave it 2 and not 1. Theres a lot of scummy drug users, benefit abusers and general ugly dirty looking people here. All folk want to do here is go out and get wasted every night, I do actually wonder what the average age of death is for this town haha.

I'd move if I hadn't finally got myself a secure job..!
