Haverfordwest 4/10
There are things to do but the prices are ridiculous for what is offered. Property and general cost of living is laughably expensive too. Employment is generally poor and services are not great considering the level of CT charged.

Thirsk 7/10
Nice little market town with lots of other little towns/villages but a few minutes ride away.
Has everything you really need in a small town; supermarkets, plenty of pubs, even a late night bar now (can't technically be classed as a nightclub, but there's one up the road in Northallerton) and loads of little independent shops.
Transport links via the A19 and A1(M) to the likes of Teesside, Newcastle (at a push), Darlington, Durham (again at a push), York, Leeds, Harrogate etc.
Seemingly good train links, although I can't comment as I've never used it.
Very cheap to live in comparison to the south or Harrogate/Ilkley and to be honest just as good unless you're completely up yourself.

Only downsides are the large numbers of chavs for such a small place, though they aren't violent and can be dispersed by either driving at them or just walking at them and asking "sorry mate, what was that?" so it's not all bad.
Oh, and if you live on one side of the town and need to commute via the other side of town (like myself) it can get tedious when it's market day.
Oh yeah, and they've just started to introduce Pay & Display parking where as it has always been free parking across all the town centres, bad times :(

Plymouth, 5/10

Potentially a beautiful city. The natural surroundings are utterly fabulous, built on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and one of the countries finest natural harbours. Sitting on the Hoe and looking out to see is a glorious site. There is beautiful scenery all around, and from where I live, I can see nothing out my window bar Dartmoor and trees.

The city has everything you need and nothing you don't but much of is it very shabby 1950's style buildings, a consequence of the fact it was pretty much destroyed in the 2nd world war. In desperate need of a lick of paint.

Has a beautiful historic seafront area which is in part ruined by the fact that in the 1970's the council felt the best thing to do was build council flats on the seafront. So on one side you look down a cobbled street at fabulous 1600-1700 hundreds shopfronts and cobbled streets, turn around and somebody is hanging washing from a grotty flat.

Infact much of Plymouth is like this - it is also home to what at one point was Europes largest council estate - and its a shame. There are some very niec areas to live but you can count them on one hand. It's not an affluent area as you can tell by the fact you'll see perhaps two Ferraris a year down here and you can often pull onto a petrol station forecourt populated entirely by cars registered under the old style registration system.

We've got a big cinema, though, which is nice, and other than today where it seems to be ridiculously busy generally speaking a 'bad traffic jam' in Plymouth is one you sit in for more than 5 minutes. It's remarkably free flowing except on Saturdays when the poorly sited recently build shopping centre carpark causes gridlock.

Glasgow: Lots to do, loads of bars/clubs/cinemas etc. Lots of good shops. But loud, busy, dirty and unfriendly city.

Inverness: Not as much to do, not as many good shops. Clean and friendly tho (and no neds)

Woodside Park (North London): 9.5/10

excellent area, really low crime, fantastic local amenities (Pool, Park, Cinema, three supermarkets, etc... all within walking distance) and the whole of London's magnificence is just a tube-journey or three away.

Tottenham, London. 5\10

Not a bad area to live, better then where i used to live in Bethnal green. Local people arent too friendly, the high streets pretty lively, always someone shoutin or some collapsing which causes hugeeee crowds.

Crime stats arent too good but my road just off the high street isnt too bad, lots of people like to stand about outside their houses to chat, just a bit loud outside my window, but im loud sometimes so i fit right in.

Local pub was closed down after apparently a drugged up woman got a bit lively to the wrong fella. The barman still served Cans over the counter though :D Permenantly closed now though.

Couple shops in the highstreet, peacocks for your underwear needs, greggs for some pasty sma...eating, iceland, somerfield, corner shop which never shuts ever.

I dont put it across as a great area but ive never had a problem here yet and that makes it a good place to live.

Tunbridge Wells 9/10

Low levels of crime.
Very good schools.
Nice town with loads of shops.
Very easy access to London and not too far from Dover to get to France. Also close to the coast.
Nice countryside all around.

Billericay (Essex) - 8.5 out of 10.

Boyfriend used to police Billericay, he eventually transferred to a different town because there just wasn't anything for him to do, I've never come across any crime. Surrounded by lovely countryside, 30 minute train ride from Central London, close to cinema, clubs, nice pubs/restaurants etc, has a nice little high street, lots of parks.

Would have given it 10 out of 10 if it were closer to some nice beaches :)

Appleby Cumbria 9/10 great place to live but 1 week in the year we get 80,000 pikies hit the town : (

Appleby! Drove through there not long ago on the way to Barnard Castle in County Duhram, loved the rollercoaster-like hills outside the town. Stopped for somthing to eat in a local Pub, was really nice :)

Lincoln - 5.5/10

It has such potential to become a great small city, it has the dominating Cathedral and Castle, and a plethora of land potential and regeneration; with significant cash injection the place could become an 8 easily.

The reasons why it falls down are:

Size - the city is walkable, which granted is a very positive thing in most aspects, but once you're out of the ~3 mile radius of the city centre there is nothing but fields and absolute rurality; which makes for the city feel more like an extended village. It lacks a neighbouring City (e.g. Notts/Derby, Leeds/Brad, Sheff/Rother) to extend any industry it has. Another thing - very little business around this area, or at least in expanse/variety.

Wishy-Washy Standards & Council Activity - The city is too conservative (older generations) and doesn't seem to want to take a step into the 21st Century in some aspects of the quality of life here. The standards of development are very noticably different and detract from the appeal of some places.

People - The people of Lincoln are friendly and nice enough but they're all a bit rough'n'rural for my liking, although that's my own prejudice of being more of a city-boy and faux-middle class.

It has the preserves of a nice small city, and it has great potential; The Brayford Marina (modern, cosmopolitan), Steep Hill & Castle Area (historic, miniature-york-esque), University (modern, in-growth) but just needs to keep this on the mend.

Transport Links: It really needs better northern links to the A1 too, the single lane A57 (Sheffield-Worksop-Lincoln) with toll bridge just doesn't cut it. It needs to be a dual carriageway straight through to Sheffield (and the A46 south straight to Leicester (in progress). The East of the country could potentially be known as Durham-York-Lincoln-Cambridge for beautiful historic contexts, but Lincoln is in such a shadow of York/Cambs it'll never be on the same level.

In comparison to other areas I have experienced/lived:

Dore, Sheffield - 8/10
Wetherby, Leeds - 7/10
Ely, Cambs - 7/10

Headingley - 7/10

Bit messy, crime rate isn't brilliant but there are good bars/pubs/shops nearby and anything beats Hyde Park.

Tresco, Isles of Scilly 9.5/10

Stunning island
White sand beaches, most of which see a handful of people a day in the summer, none in the winter
Clear water
No pollution
No crime
No cars
No traffic
Weather generally better than the mainland, and rarely a frost (once every few years)
Method of transport is golf buggies or speed boats.
Activities including shooting, boating, watersports, fishing
Fantastic food & drink
Healthiest place in the country to live

Negatives:

Only 1 pub (although 8 more on 4 islands)
No KFC/fast food!
No shops

Swindon (wiltshire), it's alright, you rarely see a chav unless you go into the scummy council estate bits, not that much to do unless you've got money but surrounded by plenty of fields and stuff to mess around on, close to lechlade for swimming and camping, close to cricklade for quality food, good shopping, better than some massive city by far so i'd give it 8/10.

You forgot to mention in your negatives that the islands are silly!
