While I was looking for an alternative strap for my A300 I came across this. I like the idea and it just looks cooler than the usual camera straps. But it seems they don't ship to the UK...

I've found alternative products by other companies like the Blackrapid RS-4, but the shipping cost is pretty steep.

Anyone know where I can get one of these two? or something similar?

Me = Idiot

I've foolishly overlooked the first result on the google search...
The Flash Centre (don't reckon they are a competitor, unless OcUK suddenly takes a massive swing towards indoor/outdoor lighting solutions) stocks them for just over £50, so that's good...

It would still be good to hear if anyone has any experience with it though.

Thanks

I have been looking for something like that for ages!
But it's quite expensive, the first link you posted does post to the UK, but with the weak pound to euro, it'll cost too much for a strap like that. £30 would be my maximum :/

What a complete rip off, but a great idea! I was moaning about the price of tripod straps the other day as my Manfrotto one cost me £25 which I thought was a complete rip off for what it is. This is practically the same thing yet it costs even more! I reckon you could make one at a fraction of the price. I use the standard strap as my D40 is pretty light, but can imagine the bigger cameras giving you some serious neck ache after a while. I am surprised someone like Crumpler have not targetted tripod/camera straps.

What did make me chuckle was the fat dude in the picture with the big cross above him, lol!

Yeah I thought they posted to UK; but I signed up, added it to the basket and it won't let me choose a delivery option for my address... saying "No shipping available to the selected country!" which is a bit annoying...

Just so you guys know, BlackRapid is the original product and the Sun Sniper is a copy version of BR (apparently they use to resell BR in the EU, but they had some argument about being muppets thus selling their own make)

The BR4 or even the BR1 looks a lot better than the SunSnipe.

Also did some research, Cathay Photo from Singapore is willing to sell worldwide and post to the UK. Still enquiring on postal price but the BR4 is only S$79, approximately £35. I would assume including postage of say £10 is fair? Still awaiting their confirmed reply.

Trouble is, you can't pay via credit card, only cash payment or telegraphic payment which requires an extra S$30. I have relatives in Singapore who is willing to buy for me if I send them the money and post to me.

Anyone else interested? Perhaps a bulk buy can net it cheaper...
FAO Mod: hope this isn't a competitor as you no longer sell cameras, much less finding a Far East company a threat?

Buying from B&H US will rack the price up to over £50 each :(

Dear Colin

Thank you for your reply.

1) It will be the same price as quoted for 5 or 6 pcs.

2) Please note that if pick up in Singapore you will need to add 7% GST Tax to the price quoted.

3) It will be Black Rapid RS4 @S$84.53 x 5 pcs (including GST)

4) If shipped out of Singapore the total cost is as follows:

Black Rapid RS4 @S$79.00 x 5 pcs = S$395.00
Airparcel Pos @S$55.00 (takes about 7-10 working days subject to custom clearance)
Bank charges @S$30.00
Total Payable @S$480.00

For this amount we will only accept payment by Telegraphic Transfer and S$30.00 is applicable being bank charges.

Thank you for your understanding.

So essentially, not much special discount BUT if we have more people, that's more saving from the Bank charges and delivery. Otherwise, for 5 person, it'll be S$480, which is ~£210, i.e. £42 each. Who can confirm their interest?

I carry my camera like that anyway on the strap it came with. Admittedly it does jab me in the kidneys a bit as it's not as long as the one in the photos.

It's not about the strap really, it's about the way the camera is attached to it, and that you can move it freely along the strap without moving the strap itself. Not sure if that makes sense, if not, watch the video on the links.

I've seen these about and I always wonder how easy it would be for a nibble footed theif to come up behind you with a knife, cut the strap and make off with it.
