Who has SKY HD+?

Amstrad box here with old EPG too. Cant say i'm bothered in all honesty, it it true the picture quality is worse with the new EPG?

Pace box started playing up last week - wouldn't record and the live pause was being erratic.

I assume it's a common problem?

Phoned Sky and got told to reset the box which seems to have fixed it but I assume the problems will come back eventually?

My Pace has had a few bouts of picture breakup of late. Picture will pixelate and display artifacts for about 2-3 seconds, then its ok again. Don't know if was a reception issue but it has done the same thing on different days when the weather was fine.

Mine does the same. Happened since i have had the new EPG really.

Was supposed to get it installed last Wednesday but got a call at midday saying they couldn't do it. So, had a day off work for nothing. Got it re-booked for Tuesday now so fingers crossed they'll make it then.

When they install, do they change the dish at all? Was away this weekend and got back yesterday to find no signal being received. Checked all the cables and all fine. Looked outside at my dish and the LNB has dropped off. However, looks to me like it's been knocked off and the window cleaner was around on Friday afternoon when we were out. He has to climb over the back gate to do the windows as it's locked and I reckon he's hit it with his ladder but I've got no proof. Is it worth me ringing them and telling them about the dish before they come? Don't want the engineer to get here and have no dish/LNB to fit!

They have dishes on the vans, if he is nice enough he should change it for you, im on my 3rd dish as i know the sky bloke so whenever there is a revised dish he just changes mine but i cant see there being an issue, just say it fell off :)

igetting my Sky HD fitted today. In terms of the Digibox, what brands exist, which is the best and how does one tell? Will i get a choice if i mention it?

Mine did that before it died completely

They changed mine when they did my HD install a month ago...the guy told me that they are now told to change the dishes and LNB when they come to do an install.

So I have a HD box but didn't bother renewing my HD subscription, if I want to sign up again do I have to sign up for a year?

Ive opted in and out of HD a few times, never been tied into 12 monthers on the basis that i own my equipment..

Had Sky HD installed this morning and so far so good. The picture in SD looks better than with Sky+ and HD I've seen so far looks great.

Just a couple of niggles/questions though. The sound through my Samsung Home Theatre Kite (HTK) is not as loud as before. With my Sky+ box I had it on about 15 and it was ok. Now I have to have it on about 24. No settings in my HTK have been changed and I'm using the optical out connection.

Secondly (this may be a stupid question) why do some of the programmes on the HD channels have black bars at the side? I was on Sky 1 HD and it had black bars but when I flicked back to normal Sky 1 the picture filled the screen. This was the same on the Sci-Fi channel as well. However, Bones is on now and that pictures fill the screen. I've got a new tv (Panasonic TX-P42G10B Plasma) but I don't think it's any of the settings in there. Anyone shine any light on these niggles?

Sometimes on the HD channels they correctly set the 4:3 tag for old square recordings, so you get to watch in the correct aspect ratio when using auto, and need to use one of the zoom functions to force a zoomed fullscreen picture.

True HD programs (like bones for example) are naturally widescreen so no black bars are needed. Thats just often how they show 4:3 broadcasts on the HD channels.

Came home to find new guide on my samsung box, well impressed.
Got ITV HD added for the football tonight, was wondering if theres anyway to get it in your favorites?

Well I now own my own equipment so how do I opt in/out?

I called Sky CS again and they say I have to sign for 12 months?

Thanks

Had it less than a week and got a new box already!! Took the Amstrad away and gave me a Thomson one, hope this one is better! Wouldn't record and subtitles & sound were all over the place. So far so good with the new box though.

I am not sure whether it has anything to do with ever having received subsidised equipment (i never did, bought my box privately). I have been told the 12 month thing but when pressed i have never been held to it.

For the moment i am not sure its worth the bother anyway, the programming is rather limited.
