Future proof? No such thing Im afraid
Re the spec, you want dual channel RAM not triple channel
Personally Id go for the 902 over the 900
Have you considered an ATI 5850? Only £25 more than the 275 and better
Rest looks good

Like 95 said, it's hard to be future proof as everything is getting updated etc...
Your memroy you have chosen is tripple channel, the motherboard is dual channel. This memory is great and is up for the gaming needs. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-026-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517
Also, I would change the antec 900 to an antec 902, just because it looks better and its matt black inside.
Last thing, please change that GPU lol, and get the 5850. It's £25 more than the 275 but you get a whole lot more for your money. Looks nicer, runs cooler, uses less power, new tech and has dx11. Can't go wrong with that ;)

What is the difference between dual channel and triple channel ram?

re graphics, i keep getting told nvidia is better than ATI this may very well be misinformation but are there any differences at all? I know nvidia comes with Physx (is this worth anything?)

Thanks

There is no difference tbh between tripple and dual. Quite a few people say "tripple is a waste of time". I don't personally know as i've never own tripple but in benchmarks when gaming, it does not make a difference WHAT SO EVER. So there you have it ;)
Nvidia is better than Ati :o Never, trust me mate get the ati. There is nothing wrong with the company, they offer better value for your money as nvidia put there gpu's like 2x as ati. Also, ati have come out with new tech where as nvidia hasn't and they plan on bringing the "fermi" out but then ati coming back with the 5870 x2 (5890). I'de go with the 5850 and i'm sure every one else would to.

GL by the way, don't forget to post some pics up :)
Yes the memory I chosen will work with your mobo as it's dual channel. Also, it has lower timings than the memory you picked, so your system will become more snappier when in windows etc...
And plus you are gaming, 4gb is well enough ;)

Sorry i misunderstood what you said about ATI and Nvidea. It sounded liek you said never get an ATI then told me to get one lol. Or am I being stupid?

TY

What I ment is, imho, I prefer ati just becasue they do quality cards for good money for example.
Ati 4870 x2 And the Nvidia Gtx 295 (You could buy the ati brandnew for £250, gtx 295 brandnew for £360. Ati had roughly same performance, sometimes beating it)
Ati 4890 and Nvidia gtx 285 (Gtx 285, £260. Ati 4890, £140 as has roughly the same performance)
You get a whole lot more for your money with ati.

EDIT: Have you looked into the Asus Maximus Formluar III? Has great overclocking features, looks gawjush and you get a decent sound card? Only £20 more than the mobo you picked.

Its external? oops lol i want one as part of my rig so i guess i picked the wrong one

LOL, you sure you'll be ok building it for him? I wouldn't want to make any mistakes with 'someone else’s' PC when he's spending that much.

Worst thing you can do is build a computer for Family/Friends. You'll be forever their tech support. It always seems a good idea initially but if things go wrong/stuff needs RMA, then it can be a pain.

I know as I've built plenty for Family/Friends in the past. Never again...:D

Good luck mate!

How does this sound?

If we use the case he already has plus the current 200GB HD + optical drives and buy the following:

How does that sound?

He currently has a 600Watt power supply although this is nearly 2 years old would you suggest buying a new one?

Will this system run windows 7 64bit well?

Can you not overclock it yourself? As sfnx said earlier you can get an i7 on x58 for cheaper than that overclocked bundle.

Do you know the model of PSU he has?

Also when choosing a graphics card what is the difference between gigabyte, sapphire, asus etc. From what i can see they are the same specs but gigabyte and sapphire cost 20 pounds more
