Hi

I'm interested in upgrading my PC and only need the components that go inside of the case, I bought a new case a few months ago (Coolermaster Storm Scout). I also have a monitor, OS (still just going to stick with XP, realible and I just don't feel like switching OS to be honest). I also have this power supply which I only bought back at the beginning of June: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-167-CM&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1103

My budget is £400 and I need a processor, memory, motherboard, graphics card, hard drive and optical drive (maybe a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD combo drive if it can fit into my budget, but consider that an afterthought after the main components).

Basically I'm just looking for some advice/a spec that is the best value for money at the moment. Mainly going to be used for gaming etc.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards.

I've had my current system since May 2008, the graphics card since February 2008 so it is getting on a bit now in the PC world. The spec is as follows:

Pentium Dual-Core E2180 @ 3GHz
2GB DDR2 memory (PC6400)
Radeon HD 3850 256MB
A Gigabyte micro-ATX motherboard, socket 775 I think so I will need a new CPU cooler aswell (which I bought by accident when I actually should have bought a full size ATX board but couldn't be bothered to return it).

what chipset is your MB?

personally i would suggest a cheap second hand quad like the q6600, 2 more GB of RAM, seagate 7200.12 or samsung F3 HDD and a 5850 or 5870 if your budget stretches

for what you are askign for, the only other viable socket i see is AM3
