Any of you have any stories?

I recently had one clearing out a cupboard at home, a massive plank of wood fell on my head with quite some force and nearly knocked me out, I looked at the plank of wood afterwards and roughly an inch or so to the left was a nail sticking out. My heart felt like it stopped for about a minute thinking about what would have happened if I had been an inch to the left.

Yea my recent accident :p coming around a bend to see a landrover stopped! luckily my brain still worked so managed to not crash into the back of it and only into the side and not head on with the oncoming car.

My 9 year old boy nearly getting run over. Everything went into slow motion, all I heard was a screech, instantly spun round and saw him jump out the way of the car which literally just missed him. Needless to say I was very shaken up.

Your son is a vampire.

Mmm, wasn't really a heart-stopping moment but my last accident was doing a full 360 spin in my car on a dual carriageway. I was only nervous about my 42" Plasma that I was carrying in the back, but a quick look over my shoulder afterwards and I pretty much just laughed and carried on driving :p.

fell down a cliff and nearly rolled onto a very busy road, managed to stop just in time, but I was about 7 at the time.

Miraculously, nothing broken, just very scratched and bruised

when my little boy fell out of his cot. I spent nights listening to him sitting and trying to stand and the noise of him falling onto his bum. Cot rails were head height. One night I'd heard him do this a couple of times and then there was a longer pause and silence. My heart stopped. I was out of bed, light on and at his cot at roughly the speed of light. He was on the floor still and not crying. Heart very stopped now. Picked him up and he gave me a big smile and tried to grab my nose. He'd gone head first over the side through 180 degrees and landed on his bum on a blanket.

He spent the next hour on my bed whilst I drilled lower mounting points for his cot base. Scared the bejesus out of me and still makes me shudder 2 years later. To this day I have no idea how he climbed over the side.

Note to OP: Must learn meaning of word "literally".

When my son (3 at the time) ran off and went missing at the local retail park. I felt physically sick and I swear my heart skipped a beat.

When my wife was in hospital giving birth to our little boy there were a few complications.

First of all he became very distressed in the womb, then the midwife had to do a scalp scrape and he became even more distressed and turned in the womb and the umbilical cord got wrapped round his neck.

They then all sprang into action, barged me out of the way and wheeled her down to the delivery room, a couple of minutes passed and a nurse came to find me and took me down to the delivery room.

I got changed into the gown etc and was led into the room where my wife was laid with all these doctors and nurses gathered round, i was sat right at the edge of the barrier they put up to block your view, so i could see everything :(

They literally cut her open like they were gutting a fish and then kind of dived inside her belly to drag the little fella out, they then passed him onto the paediatrician.

The heart stopping moment came when after 2 minutes they sent an emergency message out on the tannoy for the senior paediatrician to come to delivery room 2 immediately.

He came in and shoved the junior paediatrician out of the way and started working on my new born son, after nearly 3 minutes they managed to get him breathing at which point he passed the baby over to the junior paediatrician and came over to talk to me.

He explained that due to an extended lack of oxygen there was a chance that complications may arise but from his initial examination everything seemed ok and we had a healthy 9lb 8oz baby boy.

Believe me i have never been so close to almost literally soiling myself, and all the time this was happening i had to reassure my wife that everything was ok.

Luckily enough our little boy turned out to be perfectly fine and has no issues at all relating to what happened when he was born.
