My lovely other half has offered to buy me this case for Christmas

I'd be looking to move the hard drive and the RAM from my existing PC but what else would you guys recommend (PSU, motherboard, graphics card, etc etc) in order for me to complete my build?

I'm mainly using my system for downloading, gaming and browsing and my budget would be around the £300 - £400 mark.

Any help, advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

// Edit If I've posted this in the wrong section would a kind mod please relocate?

Probably would have been better posted in general hardware, but still :p

What RAM do you have? (DDR, DDR2 etc) And how much? (1GB, 2GB etc)

I came up with this spec, but OCUK have seriously cut down the number of socket 775 boards!

You'd get free shipping so just under £400 :p

That CPU should overclock quite well and thats a decent graphics card too to help out with gaming :) And never forget a good quality power supply!

Was a quick basket I whipped up, you may be better off going with AMD given the quite poor range of 775 mobos! But I dont know anything about AMD so cant help there sorry

Thanks first of all for the swift reply and suggestions. At the moment I'm running 2.5GB DDR2 RAM, I'd like to greatly increase this at a future point though on my new system though. I've also got a 4 month old Western Digital 1TB Hard drive running XP. Also if a passing Don would be kind enough to move my thread it would be greatly appreciated

What is your current system? That might help in giving advice ;)

It's prehistoric - literally, above are the two newest components in my system.

2.5GB? Guessing thats using 3 sticks of RAM? or maybe just 2 that arent matched? Either way, thats not going to be ideal! best way to set your RAM up is 2, or 4 sticks, and all be the same size and speed. You'd be best upgrading that to 2x 2GB sticks. You could probably sell the old stuff on the Members Market for a bit to get some money back :)
