hi i have tonight fitted a 2nd 5870 games are running great but gpus are a far bit hotter now as expected.

ive noticed the cards fans spin up when the temps are hitting 90c does this mean the card is throttling and my memory clock and gpu clock are also being lowered?

If so do i need to increase fan speed to keep temps below 90c?

how hot!!!!

my two 4870's never reached temps like that whilst gaming. admitidly i'd crank the fan to 60% on both whilst gaming but they never hit even 80ºc.

i would have imagined two 5870's would possibly reach late 60's early 70's tops.

whats your internals like in your case for air flow etc

have a antec 1200 fair few fans, cards are very very close together on my mobo which is UDR3 Gigabyte if i increase fan speed to say 40% cards are a lot cooler i just want to know about the reason the fan spins up.

I thought most modern gpus are safe upto 100-120c

please note when temps are hitting 90c its only the top card bottom card is a good 15c lower, also fan speed is only on 30% i have been trying games at 45% fan speed and temps are looking a lot better

they are yes but exra heat inside the case warms everything else.

how close we talking here? picture?

my two 4870's were quite a bit apart.

way way closer than that i cant do it any other way as they are the only 2 pcie slots on board

Cards are only a fraction apart compared to your screenshot.

not anymore 45% fan speed seems to have solved temps i think i need to get a different mobo with pcie slots that a further apart anybody know of a x58 mobo

stick a fan on the right hand side of the graphic cards and set CCC on both to auto(unless of corse you have OC in mind). a friend had this problem, and we solved his by doing this. its a lot less quiet then raising the fan speed on the gpu.

when u say set to auto what do you mean, all i see is auto tune will that lower my clocks as thats no good if so?

or do you mean untick the box that says manual fan control?

its going to be very difficult to fit a fan to the right of the cards as the fan cant be fixed to anything and will be sat in mid air?

ive noticed since i set fans to auto the fans spin according temps and seem to never go above 90c have the 5870 bios been designed this way so temps wont go above 90c with this setting?
