Kinda tempted by one of these to have along with my iMac, but was just wanting peoples thoughts on them.

Can I update the ram myself, obvious costs reasons, would like 4gb but if i can do this myself, was thinking slightly bigger HDD too.

Couple of software niggles on mine, but the hardware has been fine. Very happy with it.

The RAM and hard disk are easy to replace. I'm planning on putting 4GB of RAM and an SSD in mine when I can be bothered.

ooooo didnt realise that HD user upgrade was an option...is that easy enough with the unibody to access?....is it a case of buy the HD seperatly then install then reinstall OSX it came with onto it?

Damn...that makes it even more tempting!

Humm the manual has a guide to it which is easy to follow if you have the right tools (theres something like 10 screws on the bottom i think)

Eitherway get down to victoria square and get your self one :D (i loved my trip over the summer for one)

Cheers, I hate going into the centre so just get everything from the store lol, looked on youtube and some very neat tutorials there, so simple!

Think ill go for the basic then and get a bigger HDD and Ram seperate, im still mulling it over, but I know what Im like!

Am getting this one for Christmas - does the SSD upgrade make much of a difference? I have a similar spec Mac Mini with 4GB RAM and that seems fairly instant to load etc.

I took a look at one this morning and was very impressed with it. I wasn't keen on the older one but the styling and trackpad on the new one are lovely. I can't see much point in spending the extra to get a pro.

Absolutely love mine. Just the right size for a laptop IMO. Would be nice to have a matt screen, slightly higher resolution, and a seperate mouse button, but it ticked the other boxes so far ahead of the competition there wasn't anything else worth considering.

So will hard shell cases for the 13" unibody pro fit the new unibody polycarbonate. Are they the same shape and dimensions?

Yes, but the Audio port will be tight (some jacks won't make a complete connection on all rings) and the Kensington-lock hole is covered.

My better half has the new 13" Macbook Pro with a Speck Macbook Unibody case and it's almost perfect, if not for the flaws above.

The 13" Macbook Pro and the new Macbook are a completely different shape, what are you talking about?

Haha whats so good about the separate mouse button??

Its been 4-5 months of my macbook pro and i cant see how a button on the track pad would ever work! (all hail the new leaders of the no button trackpad thing)

I just dont like any of the implementations of click + drag. The seperate button has been removed purely for aesthetical reasons (Not that it was exactly an eye-sore on older MBPs) and Apple make enough desicions based on aesthetics over functionality as it is. Just look at the MacBook Air, something like that would be a welcome addition :) No reason all current functionality can't remain.

So does click and drag not work on the new trackpad?

Umm yea thats gonna be a pain lol
