Before you say it yes I know there are a few threads on the game, but every single one has been reduced to "dam you IW/activision why are there no dedicated servers?" and you know fair well that if someone tries to say how a certain feature looks nice, they will be shouted down with "yes BUT SHAME NO DEDICATED SERVERS".

So for the adults who have sucked up that shortcoming, realise the pc is still the best platform to play it on, and are still excited about the game. Post here.

Personally I'am really looking forward to the single player, and the whole snowy set of levels looks really interesting, with loads of opportunity for stealth. And also interested to see what technology is going to come up, for example the use of LAW missiles in the first game to take out tanks was just incredible. And the use of nightvision, these gave this sense of how much advantage we really have against guerilla forces through technology, organisation and tactics.

8 days till the game is released.

I too am excited about the single player, adn the new spec ops mode but will not be buying it until it is greatly reduced in price due to the lack of proper multiplayer.

Couldn't say it any better myself.
It's half a game so I'll buy it when it's half price, but I do think single player will be very good, just not enough to warrant a £30+ pricetag :(

CAN NOT WAIT :D

Am only going to be playing the single player anyway :) So looking forward to seeing what the game has to offer!!

Yep I am looking forward to the single player I tried the multiplayer and it just didn't click with me, there were loads of helicopter attacking and I just felt thatI hardly spent very much time alive.

Don't get me wrong I love L4D, TF2, UT, Quake 3 online I just couldn't get on with COD4's multiplayer. Still I'll wait till it can be had for under £20, as I've been doing that for a while with all my games just been starting Batman, Sins of a Solar Empire, Supreme Commander, Call of Cathu: Bound in Blood. Only thing I've played full price for was L4D2 on pre-order.

this game will be good but is not going to live up to the hype, just look at the singleplayer game footage we have seen, all the mechanics look exactly the same, static death animations with highley scripted sequences, its the same formula over and over again... and yet people are going crazy for it. Dont get me wrong im sure its going to be good but it is no way going to be the greatest game ever and I am getting fed up with all this MW2 blah blah this and its "going to be amazing best game ever" when there are so many more original titles here/coming in the next few months

Yup mines ordered (for £25 :)). Single player has always been the draw for me with any CoD game, multiplayer is always what comes after :) Im personally not too fussed with the lack of dedicated servers, as i found playing online with the 360 version to be absolutely fine.

THe best games, all of them, every last greatest game ever is full of scripted sequences, its how you tell a story. Can you imagine the Matrix, or the shawshank redemption, not scripted?

Its in the scripting of events you can do cool things that simply aren't possible unscripted. The huge amount of atmosphere in the game, looking back to the Stalingrad parts in the first game, the building of tension, the crossing the channel in a boat, being forced into a line and pushed forwards with no gun, unscripted as a free for all go anywhere fps, none of that would have happened, or worked.

The reasons the story, and sequences are so good in COD is because they got a winning formula back in the first game, only changed it once in COD3(diff company with a crap game to show for it), went back to the original style and you've got another great game in COD4.

What mechanics would you change, its a fantastic immersive story that has lots of very varied types of locations, varied attack styles.

New games that throw in all the original they can think of, more often than not turn out to be crap. Original and new for the sake of it is normally a recipe for disaster, infact I can't think of a great game thats been truly original in 15 years. Also I'd say almost all the very best games of the past decade, are games truly unaffraid to go with what is already known to work, and do it damn well without wasting time on things that don't work. Spore tried to be original and failed, utterly miserably, COD doesn't try anything new except new places, storys, characters and missions, thats why its never a bad game.

I for one can't wait for the latest SP campaign, couldn't give a monkeys about the incredibly easy basic and small MP side of the game but likely won't buy it till I see a great deal on it anyway as I have other things to play. The SP will be fantastic, I simply trust those guys to make a kick ass story that with characters you like with sequences that are simply amazing the first time you play them, thats all I want from a game tbh.

surely you mean javelin, LAW's have been in games for over a decade, even the old Nova logic delta force games used to have them.

I was thinking about making this thread myself, nice.
Yes I'm still getting the game and actually still really looking forward to it, think I'm going to play through SP on hard first time round as it'll make the experience last longer, plus on medium you can normally play straight through without dying.

However I am still seriously looking forward to MP, the unlocks, weapons, ranking, not the mention the graphics are looking well improved over COD4. Thing I'll miss most it gaming with my clan, although isnt this possible still somehow?

How late if at all are we expecting our pre-orders to be.

I didnt really rate the implementation of the Javelin section in COD4, it just felt too easy and pointless - none of the guys on the bridge were much of a threat to you as you locked on, and although it was graphically very sexy, you weren't under fire from the APC's either.... it was just aim - fire - kill - repeat.

Unlike say COD:UO where the tanks are going to blow you into next week unless you get them first!

Deffinetly looking forward to it but probably won't be buying it until after christmas as I have faaaaaaaar too many games both now and upcoming to spend my time on.

I was excited until they announced the lack of dedicated server support. Then I though "oh well, at least coop is still there, they must have some reasoning behind it" Then they started answering boycotts with "PC Nerds" and all that nasty unprofessional childish attitude. I'm not paying them to be seen as second rate so pre-order cancelled.

May pick it up in a bargain bin a year or two down the line to try the coop missions, but not quite so bothered any more. As far as I'm concerned Activision & Infinity Ward can stuff themselves.

It is a shame, because I was REALLY looking forward to it. :(
