Does anyone here use a premium account? If so, do you extend your account each time (which plan is the most cost effective?) or do you upload enough files to get you free rapidpoints each time?

I always seem to forget to extend my account (i'm sure i'm not the only one) and lose my rapidpoints. I also wish to download more than 5GB a day, but a months extension and 100GB extra trafficshare means nearly twenty quid a month.

I extend every 3 months.

Works out fine for me.

My Flashget history is in the hundreds of GB :p

And I consider myself to be a daily Rapidshare user.

Is the 5GB daily cap enough? I'm upgrading everything to FLAC and MKV and it's not enough anymore.

I tend to buy a year's pass and share the cost with a friend. Sharing an account is against their TOS but who cares. I think I paid 10 euros or so for more traffic per day a while back and get 25gb/day now.

I don't have 5GB a day?

AFAIK I have 25GB a day as I DL more than 5GB most days and never get capped.

Any ideas why my account is capped at 5GB a day? I do reside in Hong Kong, but I figured it was a global infrastructure.

Beats me man!

Mine just says:

Code:
Login:	**me** Expiration date:	Thu, 21. Jan 2010 Traffic left:	20 498 MB (+12 GB)
Free RapidPoints:	12950 Server time:	03.11.2009 15:25:53 Used storage:	0 MB
Premium RapidPoints:	0 TrafficShare left:	17.28 GB Files:	1

And a day from the log:

Code:
Mon, 19. Oct 2009	82.18.xx.XXX	15301626 KB (15GB)

Something is definitely up. I will contact Rapidshare about this.

Thanks for the heads up.

I think i know what your problem is, this is the first day using your account is it?

They change it round all the time but i think it works like this, you get 5gig usage per day and that can add up to 25gig over 4 days (if you don't download).
So give it 24 hours and try not to download all 5gig and tomorrow you should see it between 5-10gig

Same here. My internet download manager queue is usually cleared so i can see whats going on but my drive space is rapidly depleting! I'll check what ive got left later but it hasnt stopped working for a while, then again i dont download all the time

What dl managers do you guys use? I used to use RapGet (then that stopped working), so I switched to JDownloader, which was great (especially the unrar as you download) until it kept telling me my account was invalid....so now I'm on Rapidshare Downloader which is annoying and badly designed.

I started out with flashget but for some reason i started messing with my connection it seemed, i'm currently using JDownloader and have had the same issue as you once over, but the most frustrating thing is sometimes it wont resume downloads without me restarting and it feels a little flimsy and im going to try moving back to flashget.
Another option to try is IDM (Internet Download Manager) which seems to be quite popular but i could never get away with it.
Overall flashget is nice and simple, it looks rubish at first but you can turn a lot of features off.

I use Flashget Classic edition, it's free and fast and just works.

Disable browser monitoring and stuff and it's perfect.

Here is my account. It's almost time to extend it again.

I use both Flashget and JDownloader. I didn't know about JDownloader unpacking all the files though. Thanks for that tip.
