Driving gloves

When I had the landy I had a pair of plain black lined leather gloves. They were a godsend and as they were very plain didn't stand out against the Benny hat and clouds of engine smoke!

It never even crossed my mind to wear driving gloves.......

And i used to drive my MX-5 in the dead of winter when it was snowing -2 with the roof down!

I've got a pair of woolen gloves in the door pocket, but wouldnt dream of wearing them while driving - they're purely for the purposes of filling up on cold mornings!

Similar but different subject - someone told me driving glasses (those stupid yellow tinged things that supposedly stop headlight glare) are technically illegal ... anyone know is this the truth (ps. I also would never wear these as they also make you look like a tard)

illegal

LOL

how can they be illegal. Otherwise normal sunglasses would be too.

Wrong. Normal sunglasses block out a percentage of all light. Driving glasses specifically block out only part of the electromagnetic spectrum .. which could make it harder to drive.

so could putting your sunvisor in front of your face

but sunvisors arent illegal ?

I don't know why, but that really did tickle me, it was a genuine LOL :D

In the village I grew up in and where my parents live there was a low secure mental hospital (It's medium only now). Most of my family work or have worked there but when we were at primary school the low secure residents were free to wonder around the village as they pleased and one used to come talk to us in the school yard. He was odd, clearly becasue he was in mental care but we used to talk to him all the time.

Not long back I was talking to my mum and this guy came up and she just said "Oh yeah, he was a convicted peadofile". Oh great mum, thanks for the advance notice there... I remember he wore gloves too.

Putting the sunvisor in front of your face would be illegal as it would obstruct your view of the road. In my car my sunvisor doesn't go low enough to mean I can't see where I'm going - but if I ripped it off the ceiling and held it in front of my face -- of course that would be illegal (and I'd probably crash as I couldn't see where I was going!)! The only thing it is useful for when attached to the ceiling of the car is blocking out a low-set sun (oh, and so women can use the mirror on it to apply their make-up whilst wandering all over the carriageway ;) ! Does yours come low enough to block your vision?!

Sunvisors arn't illegal, and neither are huge peices of cardboard. But if you drive with either obstructing your vision, THAT is illegal.

So, wearing driving glasses could make it harder to drive. Sweet.

I know for fact you're not allowed to wear them when taking your driving test as they are considered 'inappropriate for driving'

!!

Hardly a great advert for them ..

Basically they (in theory) cut out very bright yellows -- and also are supposed to slightly improve other colours. The theory is that is lowers the shine of other car's headlights when they come towards you. The one time I wore a pair over 10 years ago -- it turned everything a kind of moggy-yellow colour .. which was frankly horrible.
