Rugby Union Autumn Internationals ***Spoilers***

Oh yeah Danny Care is ridiculously dumb / childish, but I much prefer watching any team with him included. :D

Ooh, sorry, I've been using that font for about 80 or so posts and nobody has raised an issue. I'll use this one in this thread though, just so it's a bit more legible for you. :)

Byrne is out, Phillips is out and I don't know wether Peel is injured, or wether Gatland is refusing to let him play because he joined Sale. Gatland did say that he'd have a policy similar to the All Blacks, where they only select a team that still plays for 1 of the 4 Welsh regions. We don't really have the strength in depth to do that, and our players should be able to go wherever the money is, not just be constricted to the lackluster Magners league.

Peel is in the squad for the autumn tests, but there's been some squabbling been Sales and the Wales RFU about him being released.

I think it's something to do with the All Blacks game not being a recognised international, so he's on the bench for Sale in a game tomorrow night.

Pity they couldn't have sorted their differences out, he's been in very good form for Sale.

The IRB set a recognised and agreed window/timeframe within which the Internationals can be played. In that window clubs are duty bound to release players requested by their qualified country if requested. If you notice only Wales are playing 4 games this Autumn, the New Zealand game was added to the fixture list late on and because of this falls outside the agreed timeframe thus Sale have exercised their right under the IRB agreements to not release Peel. England could face the same problem with the number of it's players now playing in France, the RFU have stated it is down to the players and their agents to ensure that players negotiate non-window release clauses if they want to still be considered for the Elite England setup.

Yeah that is a bit of a shame. I definitely rate him higher than Cooper. The past 4 or 5 internationals that Cooper has appeared in haven't gone well for him in my opinion. He's gutsy, but you need to have skill to back it up, and he doesn't always show skill. He can't run over people like Phillips, he doesn't go around people as much as Peel has in the past for Wales, and his passing isn't as snappy either. He seemed to throw a lot of slow, floating balls which are easy to intercept, and with a quick team like NZ I'm very worried that it could all come apart.

It's a good looking Welsh team although I don't know Paul James. Powell though has always seemed like a flat track bully to me, he seems a good impact player but seems not to do enough ball winning work. That said I don't know who I'd play in preference to him. Jones and Williams are admittedly as good as you could ask for.

England obviously weak in the tight 5 but no problem other than a little lack of bulk in the back row. Backs aren't the absolute first choice but all accomplished players so I'm hoping the produce something good.

As I'll be watching Moseley-Rotherham while the game is on tomorrow and I'm out tonight I'll give my predictions now.

Australia to beat England by more than 10

New Zealand to beat Wales by 12-15

Is anyone you want on the England team not a Harly player? If you are just picking players because of who they play for, you are as bad as Martin Johnson for picking half the Leicester team even though they aren't in form

I *may* be *slightly* biased in my decisions yes :D

Andy Powell can be very frustrating to watch.
Normally he's just a head down runner, doesn't offload, get's himself isolated and lose concedes a pen for holding-on.

but

In one game for the Lions he was running with his head up, gaining yards, passing the ball before:D he got tackled and if he did get tackled then he was off loading it.
It put the Lions on the front foot and they played well.

That's exactly what he needs to do tomorrow. I agree with you that too many times he runs into contact, and when he doesn't break the line he ends up either dropping and knocking on, or holding and conceding a penalty. He's really selfish sometimes in his play and even though he's an absolute battering ram he's now very much a marked man and one that opposition players look to isolate. He needs to start playing the Welsh way more, he needs to start offloading when he goes into contact, or at least passing a little more.

I find him really hard to watch, sometimes he's just annoyingly bad, he doesn't have the off loading game for me.

I wouldn't say annoyingly bad. I'm sure he's better than most of the England flankers. He just needs to offload a little more. When he's running with one hand on the ball, and one hand free to push defenders away then he's an absolute horse. Really, really strong, and quick too. I know the flankers are supposed to be as big as a forward and as quick as a back, and he's a perfect example of that strength and speed. He just happens to have certain games were he plays like ****. :p

Stunning Victory for Leicester over (albeit playing 5 uncapped players but Tigers themselves were down to their barebones squad) the Springboks. Well done Tigers. Tuqiri also made his debut.

Sale lost against Newport tonight. I thought Sale were one of the GPL's better sides? Although not being English I hardly watch your league. What's going on with them? are they **** or was it just an off night?
