Falken ZE912's Anyone tried them?

Thinking of putting these on my 205, as they get great reviews, wondered if anyone had tried them here and had any comments?
 
It's the 452's that are the decent Falkens isn't it?

Ignore the user reviews, way too many people without a clue saying YO MAN GOD DEES FOR MA CORSA FOR LEIK 5 QUIDZ NOT CRASHED YET LIKE **** TO A BLANKET INNIT.
 
The 912's are actually pretty good tyres, Lopez has them on his Manta IIRC and they are on my wife's Octavia. They seem to have very good wet and dry performance, but then again I don't exactly drive the Octavia like my coupe.

Correct. 912's are highly renowned for being garbage. Was certainly true for my mates Clio.

Had both 452's and T1-R's on the LCR, and the 452's had better initial bite during cornering, better grip in the wet, and seem to have better longevity. Given the choice I'd take 452's every time.

interesting, the guys on the 205 forum rave about them?
 
14" is an awkward size for semi sporty tyres, as I found out when buying new ones for the Manta. Most stuff is 15" upwards so you have to think outside the box a bit.

I prefer Yokohama A509 as the sidewalls are stiffer. That said, I've had the ZE912's on the Manta for a couple of months and no major complaints. On a light car like the Manta (or your 205) they certainly aren't "highly renowned for being garbage", in fact from all the reviews and testimonies (proper tyre reviews as Fox will tell you are often hard to come by) seemed to be middle-ground at worst.

For my liking the sidewalls are a little bit squidgy, other than that I can't really complain. Wet and dry performance is good, if anything too good in the wet for my liking (which means I actually just need more power)

Fox, they aren't "well cheap m8", they are about the average for a tyre of this size.

The ignorance on this forum is really astounding at times. The guy is buying FOURTEEN INCH tyres, he cannot simply go and get Vredestein Ultracs, Toyo Proxes T1R, Falken 452s, Goodyear Eagle F1s, you just don't have that sort of choice in this size.

I'm not confused, having driven a small car with 912's I can comfortably say that they are horrid tyres with no confidence inspiring feeling at all, wet or dry.
 
Not a fan of Continentals myself, personally my favourite tyre in this range is Yokohama's A509 but a lot of places don't stock it any more.
 
I have them on the A3 and they are comparable to all the other decent tyres i have had fitted, i do a LOT of miles, motorway and country lanes every day and have never had a problem in wet or dry, good under braking too which is important.

Excellent all round tyres.

Thanks Lopez, just the kind of info I was after. It was the wet performance I was looking at in the main, and your comment about "too good" is interesting. I can fit some 15 inch wheels if need be, I have a set of Goodwood Speedlines in Gun Metal with polished rims, just wanted to keep the 14's as it's "more sleeper".

The comment about "owners of cheap cars like cheap tyres" is kinda BS really, as most of the guys that use these have all sorts of main cars, Beemers, Porsches etc etc, I am happy to spend £200 for a set of 14's but price doesn't guarantee performance.

Squidgy sidewalls concerns me in the dry, but I guess that is one reason they work well in the wet?

Other option I am looking at are Avon ZV3's and will now add the Yoko 509's to the list.
