Watch out its another one of these threads, but if you dont mind keep reading:)

So im 24, ive had three different jobs, none of which have had me exactly interested in, or i just plain didnt like.
Im back at my old job (argos warehouse) ive worked there for a total of about 4 years. The thing is im quite happy there, it aint about the work but the people i work with that keeps me there....oh and the money of course:p
Part of me is saying im stuck there now as you have tried to do something different and that failed, besides aint it better the devil you know?
Then another part of me is saying just find something else you deserve better...does that sound snobby?
Im sitting here and thinking of the pros and cons of my current job:
pros:
im earning money
90% of my shifts im happy
workmates
getting out of the house cause im working
its easy work, not really mental work but more physical work which i prefer.

Cons:
money aint great but its enough for me
im a temp
ive done most of the jobs in the warehouse nothing else worth me learning
im getting dumer as each year passes with the stale work:p
big part of me doesnt care if i end up here or similar job for the rest of my working life.

So going by that what do you lot think?
I know what your going to say its what i think, but still its nice to hear what you guys/gals think. But dont worry ive got my opinion here it is......

I aint got many hobbies, and the hobbies i do have i couldnt really get a job out of them:
Reading books
Gaming
Motor Biking
Gym.....

Oh wait what was that last one "gym" of course:)
It only sort of hit me as i was walking home today from the gym. Ive been going for the last three years and i really enjoy it. Im the sort of person who is set in there ways and dont like much change, i really like being in a routine, and the gym is something i will always go to until i cant like ive been in a motor bike accident or im too old like 40 ;).
So why dont i try and get paid to do it, i just cant get over how long it took for me to come up with that idea:rolleyes::p
Heres what i think i would like/dislike about the job:

Likes:
helping people get fit and seeing the difference as the weeks go on
keeping them motivated
taking the studio classes, pump, cycling etc
Before the start and after my shift including Lunch breaks i can workout in the gym.
getting paid doing something that i enjoy....could i even class it as work:D

Dislikes:
Smelly sweaty people:p
low pay, or is it?
Might have to work on the reception, also doing till work

That last dislike "Might have to work on the reception, also doing till work" is quite a put off for me, it might sound silly. Reason are cause im not very good at maths at all, ive never worked on a till, does it do the work for you?
Also the reception side of things like forms i might have to fill out, or helping out new starters for memberships etc has me kinda unsettled. Finally im not the most social person and a bit shy (dumb i know im 24) but once i spoke to the person once or twice im fine.
That last paragraph, i know its something that can be fixed, but if you have any advice please say so:)

So anyway, i want to do something about getting into the gym instructor job. Unfortunatly college has already started so will have to wait till september until i can take the course i want to do. Even if i could start now i wouldnt as ive got other things planned that cant wait. So in the mean time im gonna be getting info and advice and make sure im making the right choices.
So my final notes on this long thread is heres the course im interested in doing for next year what you think, is that a good start http://www.bridgwater.ac.uk/sec4.php?sec4ID=246&secID=2

Any advice you can give would be much appreciated:)

If you don't see yourself going anywhere at your current job and want change, then go for it.
You've said that you like physical work, going to the gym, helping people get fit and seeing the difference, keeping them motivated, etc.
Looking for work at the gym does sound like a great idea and I think you'll enjoy it.

You don't always have to be stuck in the same job. You could even work for a few years at a gym to gain experience and confidence, etc. then go your own way and become a personal trainer or something?

As for "not being the most social person and a bit shy" you can change that.
You said you like reading so I recommend you buy the book "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie.
It's the best book you will find on improving people skills and I highly recommend it, it could even change your life.

A book could change my life:eek: i dont think your kiddin just incase you aint ill go check it out cheers:)

Motorbiking, could become a motorbiking instructor.
Books, librarian?
The gym thing has been covered.

Gaming, you could always go back into education, have a go at getting something to do with gaming, it'll take a lot of time and effort but the payoffs will be brilliant. But if you're not confident you could improve your maths skills then it's pointless trying.

Sounds like a plan to me.

You really don't want to stay in warehouse work all your life, when I did some temp warehouse work a few years ago it was so damn depressing. Tedious work and old people moaning about life in general. (although I've found that in every job to be fair :p )

My only concern would be the future of your career. I'm assuming most gyms will want young healthy people instructing as it will make the gym look good. What would you do when you start to get a bit older, do you think you'd still be able to find work?

Apart from that, go for it. :D

That aint true, ive seen a lot of older people who are more fitter and healtier than most teenagers. Infact ive seen people who are in the gym who are in there late 40's or even 50's and there extremely fit and as you put it healthy looking.
As for working in the gym at a certain age, in my gym theres a woman probably in her mid to late 40's working there.

If thats the case then I don't see what you have to lose.

My only experience of a gym is from the film Dodgeball but good to see they hire older people as well. :D
