Weekend Football Thread. 7-9 *spoilers*

After a run of defeats, Birmingham have managed to scrape together a couple of good results against teams much further up the table. They've now got a few games against their fellow relegation-battlers in what could prove to be a pivotal few weeks. If they can stay clear of the bottom 3 until the transfer window opens then they're more likely to attract some decent talent with their £40 million.

Which dive is this then?

very right side of penalty are (well liverpools right) I think it was Bowyer running with him, slid in, clearly got the ball, no contact on Gerrard at all, Gerrard threw himself to the floor at that point and I believe put both arms up in the air as if to say "was that good enough boss?".

Brum are getting ok results and have conceded very few, but thats part and parcel with barely attacking, they're a better attacking force than they appear already, but tactically they don't let their wingers get in the other half, no support, no goals. They looked infinately better after Liverpools goal when they were FORCED to cross the halfway line. They need far better defenders to allow the confidence/tactics to allow their half decent offence to actually attack. Carr, Ridgewell, just utter crap defenders, Carsley too, the amount of times he failed to close down Pool players sitting just outside the box lining up shots was a joke.

Evans should have been off yesterday for what can only be described as assault(even if we all cheered a little inside).

? Evans jumped. Generally when I jump my feet go up, as they are attached to my legs. I assume it's the same for him. Therefore when he starts to come down, his feet also start to come down. It's not his fault that Drogba barrelled into him late.

No it's definitely getting worse and the really bad thing about it is that they (the referees/linesmen) are never held accountable for their poor decisions. They are always given support from the F.A. and referee's association. It's never their fault.

Awesome :D How have you done that?

I used a site called xtranormal at http://www.xtranormal.com. There you can sign up for an account and creat you own videos. It is fairly easy to do. Simply choose set, a pair of actors and their voices and type out a script for them. I used the commens made in this thread with some minor edits. You can also choose animations and camera angles to actioned in the scripts. It is fairly intuative.

Once create you simply publsih your video and you can choose to publish it to your Youtube account.

I'm enjoying reading the replies from people who clearly think their players don't dive.

Blinders.

Players dive all the time, most of them don't wink to the camera in the process.

I think it's the fact that most other fans admit their players do when/if they do it.

You've both typified what I seem to see uniquely in Liverpool fans. Always condone simulation and cheating, but when invariably your side does it a blasé response that everybody does it ensues.

Eduardo didn't wink?

Though as said, wonder if Ngog will be treated like Eduardo..

Nobody has said that.

The fact is despite your smug little quips. It was your player who dived Maybe a little dignity in victory, oh wait...........................

What I've noticed this season is that the problem with the punishments is that the referees making massive errors get demoted to the Championship so we get all the **** refs. :(:p

Anyway, what with Cole, Bassong and now Yossi getting injured in the last 2 weeks, my fantasy team is well and truly up the duff :(

It's when he was in the box and went down slightly easy but no idea why people are calling it a dive, there was contact and he went down but didn't exactly roll around or scream for a penalty :/
That's the one I thought it was. Seems dm has just created another pack of lies to vilify a player he doesn't like.

I know Arsenal players have and will dive in the future, its part of football, I never say otherwise, however I make the distinction between even Ngog who I've seen dive ONCE, EVER and Gerrard/Torres who go down several times every game(in the area or just getting fouls). Drogba is terrible for it, though vastly improved this year, last couple seasons as a lone striker he was down half a game, this year he's put a lot more time into doing something with the ball and his game has improved dramatically, but still goes down like a tit when he gets the chance.

I don't think theres a single player out there who hasn't gone down easily or just flat out dived, and there won't be, but if you can't see the difference between the every gamers, and the once in a blue mooners, you're blind.

I'm starting to wonder if refs are getting worse, or are players in English football catching up to the Italians and Spanish. It certainly is really bad this season.

On the plus side (if there is one at all) Johnson and Mascherano where fantastic. Personally I'd drop Kuyt and stick Johnson on the freakin wing. He's got ability and seemingly, a brain.

Mascherano, if he continues to play well and show the passion he has been this season, should be given the captaincy when Gerrard isn't on. He's been epic and his passing has really developed tenfold. Don't know why its given to Kuyt, he's been playing utter tosh for ages now and I can't see any captaincy qualities from him at all.

It's more the fact he did the Stevie Starfish™ which easily could have resulted in the referee wrongly giving a penalty. He can never fall like a normal footballer. :p

I've never once jumped, with me leg straight out raised above MY waist, with my leg at right angles.

put "evans on drogba" into youtube, not only is it completely and utterly deliberate, you even SEE him deliberately kick him, not just catch him, you see his leg pulled back , he looks down, see's drogba and extends his leg causing a much worse contact.

Sorry but thats completely on purpose, theres multiple angles of it, his leg is higher than at all necessary just to jump and the massively obvious and deliberate extra power he put in the kick right before contact is damning. He meant to do it, its a red card and frankly a red card + extra ban for being just flat out assault.

Getting fed up with accidental tackles being treated the same as intent to injure assaults.

Lost that? We dominated the game.

You mean let off?

I agree, but it's interesting that when Arsenal fans say that we dominated the game and didn't take all 3 points we get criticised, tonight Liverpool did, but they cheated for it. Liverpool were dominating in a sense, but hoofing the ball into the box without any direction for 30 minutes is barely a hard thing to do

Edit - Also, I agree with dm for once, Evans should have seen red twice yesterday. That incident off the ball was poor officiating, he basically allowed Evans to deck another player ~5 seconds after the whistle went, wtf is that?
