I think this thread should be for people who are enjoying the game or have questions, the moaning about what the game is missing has become very boring over the last three weeks, plus you have a thread all of you own to go do it in, we dont wanna hear it.

I got my retail copy, but how long does it take to install? its been nearly 2 hours, y is it installing into steam wtf?, it been on the screen:

creating local game cache files...

preparing call of duty modern warfare 2 files for install...

Whilst I don't share his views I think the PC version of most of the cross platform games (particularly where the game has originated from the PC) have always been viewed as more "high brow" simply because they allow the formation of a community through map design, mod development, league gaming a greater degree of depth than that of the vanilla game content fed to the console communities. I don't think it is elitist but it is indeed a more complete package and so often allowed those modders to "fill the gaps" left by hurried design to release schedules.

The industry also seems to forget that a number of its big names were born from modding and mapping communities and their talent (back then) was recognised and snapped up. My mate coded the xtreme mod for CoD UO and would spend days coding in his own time, just to broaden the enjoyment of the game for others. Seems Activision want to stifle that enthusiasm even though it helped to create a "multi million dollar franchise" for them, where modding kept the genre fresh for people whilst they are busy designing the next game in the series. Way to shoot yourself in the foot.By removing key elements of the game (for a PC community), they are actually damaging their own industry.

It would seem that many people also confuse the terms PC Gamer and PC User. With piracy so often linked to PC Gamers, I would actually put it as PC Users who then choose to use the multifunctionality of a pc to choose which platform they pirate. Hence why MW2 was pirated first for the 360 and not the pc. Because pc gaming is our platform of choice we are then tarnished with the dirty brush of all the pirating carried out for the other platforms.

i have jsut phoned high st store and they said the pc version hasnt been selling well for them and they still got 5 left for £39.99

Well said BA, it has really anoyed me how they ahve stiffed the PC community.

Some brilliant mods and maps were enjoyed on the cod series :(

I did at that price, but i traded in some games on the 360. If you are trading anything in, I'd wait because places are selling it for ~£25. Maybe order it on the net now, and get it for Thursday for £15 cheaper?

Althought, I'd still choose the high street shop over Steam for this game. Downloading 12-16GB :eek:
 
So who else was installing at 00:01 last night? lol :D

Completed the SP compaign and I have to say I'm very impressed, it beats COD4 SP hands down. The weapons are great as well, some welcome additions, SCAR-H, L86 LSW etc. Very replayable as well.

Just going to give the MP a go.
